sad story at the sf zoo.
a beautiful siberian tiger escapes, kills one man and mauls two others.
then is shot and killed by police.
It could have been the boys.LOL...these were not little boys - one was 19, one was 23 and the teen who died was 17. The news is reporting that the 17 year old tried to save one of the older men. When the air clears I guess we'll know what really happened. sammieswife.
OK so maybe YOU consider 17-23 year old males as MEN but I don't. I consider them to be boys. I never said "little" boys. Again you put words in my mouth. See the quote. The quote says boys. Not little boys. No hard feelings, Sammie's Wife. I just think it's strange how adamant you seem to be that this is just what these MALE HUMANS deserve. I think even if someone does something thoughtless and stupid they don't deserve to die. And I still feel the most terrible about the poor tiger who didn't do anything wrong.

I think we've been scammed by averynicguy because he never came back to tell us why he needs us to confess our undying trustworthiness or whatever.

SOMEONE is to blame - whether it is the zookeepers or the zoo designers - for making it possible for the tiger to escape! The tiger should never have been able to do that. A 17-year-old boy and a tiger are both dead. This is truly tragic. We don't know that he did escape without help because the investigation isn't complete.
Bottom line is this - the boys had choices - the animal didn't. The animal was in her own territory - the boys knowingly went into her territory. Right about now with all the stupidity out there and the lawsuits that will be jumped on - I'm for shutting all zoo's down to the public and keeping them open for breeding purposes only. That way - every child or parent can sleep well at night knowing their precious one is safe - and every child can grow up without ever seeing the beauty and magnificence of our creatures. They can look at a picture book and only dream of what those animals look like up close - or feel the fur or skin of those animals. But they'll be safe.
Designers or engineers make things based on available data with safety in design on the top of the priority list. Safety for the animal and the public. If they built to scope then they did nothing wrong - designs may have to be examined for weak links but there should be no lawsuit as an option. That is like saying the bunk beds I bought for my kids didn't come with a warning that told me my son would break his leg if he insisted on jumping from the top to the bottom therefore the design was poor or he wouldn't have gotten hurt. The person to blame is the person who (if it is found to be so) decided it was great fun to taunt a wild animal in the hopes he could challenge it and win. sammieswife.
It seems Sammie's Wife misinterpreted my words. I never said WHO was to blame. I said SOMEONE is at fault. It could have been the boys. Or not. I never said the tiger escaped WITH HELP; I said the tiger escaped. I said the tiger should not have been able to escape and that this whole thing is tragic. It seems that Sammie's Wife read a few news stories where they conjectured that the boys taunted the tiger and then concluded that the boys got what they deserved. I wonder why nobody was watching these boys supposedly dangle their legs over the enclosure and why nobody stopped them. Maybe somebody tried to stop them. Yes, they were stupid, but really you think one act of stupidity equals deserving to lose your lives? Then we should all be dead because we have all done something that hopefully we later regret once we put some thought into it. Besides, sarcasm or no, I was never even implying the zoos should be closed down. Somehow you read that into my post as well. I simply said there was clearly an error in design. And yes if the animal is able to escape, even because of blind rage, that is an error in design, in my opinion. If you are going to have wild animals kept like that, at least be able to keep them! Right or Wrong, Genuinely, GGBG

Well I wasn't going to post on this thread because it seems there are enough controversial opinions but I feel like saying that this is not the tiger's fault for being an animal and acting like an animal, and if the boys were taunting the tiger that was really stupid, but the bottom line is SOMEONE is to blame - whether it is the zookeepers or the zoo designers - for making it possible for the tiger to escape! The tiger should never have been able to do that. A 17-year-old boy and a tiger are both dead. This is truly tragic.

Nicely put, Loosie!Well I replied back to her saying that this isn't a true story and sent her a few links with the same story from different religions. She said well it's still a good analogy. I said well no the analogy could go both ways. once the energy that the embers is used up they burn out and then their ashes are swept up and thrown in the trash.
Yeah she'll think twice before forwarding me an email again.
isn't life crazy?
i just spent 30 days selling christmas trees.
i set there in the rain and cold playing christmas music helping people buy their tree...blessing each and every person who did.... i looked up into the sky and wondered where i will be 10 years from now.
New Boy, what is it? In 2013? What's going to happen to you?
I find this topic to be very intriguing. I do see your point though that none of us would have guessed 10 years ago where we would be today. My parents who are diehard JW's did not see this coming either. They were supposed to be in the paradise before I even reached middle school! (And I have been out of middle school for quite a lot of years now.)

So after what BV said we all better rethink our positions........I'm not comfortable being a part of this thinking or having anyone of his mentality reading my posts..... Maybe this is the "Majority" of the board......
How do you feel? Maybe this is a clue to be out-of-here. or is he in the minority....what do you thinK?
I think it's a very public forum and you have to be careful with what you post and treat it as something that is broadcasted for all to read.
What do you think, Restrangled?

New Boy, what would it accomplish if you could see 10 years ahead? Would you have studied harder and tried to be a better JW knowing you were moving towards selling [gasp!] Christmas Trees!? Or would you have moved more quickly to get out of the WT since you knew you were headed that way anyway?
I just don't know what purpose it would serve for me personally. I am not sure I would live my life any differently if I knew. Even with the best of intentions we are still humans, after all.

You want to know if I'm 100% trustworthy so you can choose me? What makes you think I choose you? It seems you are in the position to try and win me over, not the other way around.
Abandoned, he seems to be trying the WT approach of suckering us into doing something for him.
