About our dear brother...hmmm, I'm not sure if this is really in him or not. To some degree I think he is but, and this is just my opinion, I think he does it for our parents, for his wife, because he loves the "glamour" of it all. Also, an interesting point is that his wife is used as quite the elderette. She was taken on sheperding calls while I was there, and she was doing more in a blood issue case than the brothers in the liason committee. Quite a little woman there. ugh. I know that when I was there last summer he (our brother) couldn't answer most of what I asked him. I noticed later that the most basic thing I asked him he had to look up on the WT CD. But then again, it is too easy to be an elder, all the info is handed to you on a silver platter. When they give talks now it is given to them as an outline...all they have to do is add enough to make it more lively.
As far as the molestation thing in anna's post...I am bursting at the seams. I have too many questions and waaaayyyy too many faces flashing in front of my eyes. haha.
Yes, Alby is an elder but I'm not sure if it is in Ballston or Saratoga.

annalice, I truly hope that these allegations aren't true for them. But if they are true you have to understand that until they are ready to face it they cannot emotionally confront it. Believe me, as a child molestation victim, at some point most of us get angry enough at what it has done to us inside that we have to let it out. In the meantime the only thing I can suggest to you as a friend is to just be there for them. And also very important is not to "push" the silentlambs site. You have told her about it, she knows it's there. If she (or they) bring it up at another time by all means go back to it. Just be a friend, be gentle, be understanding, lend an ear, shoulder,...etc. You sound like a good friend, keep it up.

Yes, that is the story I was thinking about. But where I got Ticonderoga is beyond me. haha. But anyway, how I had first heard about this case was when Ross and his wife came to my house for lunch one Sunday when he came to our congregation to give the public talk. I knew that they had left not long after but I never was told what prompted it. I got in touch with Freda last year and we corresponded for a little while. Basically, she said they started having doubts but never told the reason why. I don't know if you keep in contact with them but they are doing great. They had a son and a daughter. The son died a few years back and the daughter has left the "troof". They are such a wonderful family.

Yes I remember Dave Tennent. I had such a crush on him when I was a teenager. It was so sad when he died in the airplane. I remember his son and pregnant daughter-in-law was also in the plane. It was a very sad thing.
I'm not sure if you are speaking about the same molestation case that I remember from back then. I think this was up near Ticonderoga. There was an elder named Lee. I don't remember if Lee was his first or last name, but he was also a policman? Or at least was before he got the troof. That particular case was really creepy and he got many years in prison if I remember correctly.
As I look at your post I can't figure out if it was in upstate NY in general you are speaking or if it dealt with the Ballston congregation.
The Monroe's lived in Glens Falls. They had 2 children...a boy and a girl. Their son Dave went to bethel. I think they are still there in a congregation in the city that needs a lot of help.
Wow, this is fun, knowing some people that know people I did.

I was in the Glens Falls congregation from 1976 to about 1979 I believe. If you were there we probably know each other and know the same people. Some names that come to mind are Brecht, Monroe, C. Viele (sp), Baldwin, Scarsaletta, Ryan. I believe those are names from both the north and south congregations.

I was raised in the Saratoga Congregation also. Hey Bro!
Seeker, yes Saratoga was in that circuit. I don't know anything about the Ogdensburg congregation but I do know that in the early 80's, I think, Br. Cranna did a swipe in the Saratoga Congregation. Paul P was the only elder left and he was so proud that he was the only one left and he kept saying at least with everyone else gone there was no more bottlenecking. My interpretation was that he wanted his own way and the only way he got it was to be the Big Boss. sheesh!
anna, were you in Ballston in the 70's or 80's? I remember a couple of people from there, not many though.

Looking for quotes in the E. Rodriguez case

i would greatly appreciate a link so i can answer some ignorant people on another message board.
i need to specifically have the site that quotes the court proceedings...specifically regarding the jw lawyer being asked how the jw's deal with child abuse and their reporting practices.

The person that was on the stand was representing the WTS and he stated that they go by state standards...that they have elders call them (the legal department) to see if they NEED to report or if they can keep it amongst themselves according to local laws, and that they do not go beyond what local laws require. That is from memory but I need the info as soon as I can get it and I will thank you in advance for your thoughts on this and your help in helping me find the site.
