well, it's that time of the year again!!!.
the november the 1st watchtower is demanding money from the r and f and in no uncertain terms makes it clear that no matter how poor they are they should be giving their money to one of the richest companys in brooklyn, the watchtower bible and tract society!!.
the 'inspiring' article on page 17 is entitled:.
Gill,
Can't you just see it now? This article will be discussed at a service
meeting in November, with all the "examples" of selfless giving being
read out during the item, most likely by pre-selected children, after
which some of those present will have been made to feel sufficiently
guilty to dig even deeper into their pockets to contribute to the
furtherance of this never to be repeated, life-saving work, as the org
calls it.
That is precisely what this and other, similar articles that they have
published in the past are designed to do, and they always work.
well, it's that time of the year again!!!.

Though I personally don't believe that there is any truth
to these stories, the fact that the watchtower are prepared
to use accounts about children in poorer countries as examples
of "selfless giving" is cynical even by their low standards.
The reason is, of course, that they know their method will work.
When dubs in more affluent countries read this shameful article,
and I wouldn't be surprised it it's featured during a service meeting
during November, they will be guilted into digging even deeper into
their pockets.
dear all (especially those in the uk),.
following on from danny's excellent post here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/16/128626/1.ashx i have just sent an e-mail to the charities commission.
some time ago i wrote to you about the dangers of jehovah's witnesses and how they don't deserve charity status because far from helping mankind they are a real danger to it.
Ian,
I see from this thread, posted by Gill earlier, that the org is holding out
the begging bowl once more.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/143814/1.ashx
Like you, we don't allow any watchtower tripe in this house, but it would
be good if someone who is able to obtain a copy dould send it to the
Charities Commission, or at least email a scan of the article to them.
I haven't read the whole article, neither would I wish to, but I very much
doubt that there is anything in it about giving money to any other "charity"
than the watchtower.
It wasn't that difficult for me. I had no family in, and I had been
planning my exit for a few weeks before my last meeting in
November 1999.
Having thoroughly researched the doctrines and history of the
org, I no longer believed in them anyway, so fear of them being
right and armageddon catching me unawares didn't affect me
at all. I had been rebuilding my social life outside the org in the
last few weeks before my final meeting, so I wasn't left out on a
limb, so to speak, when I stopped attending the hall.
I was angry at the deceit of the org, but probably more angry
with myself than them for having been fooled by it.
request from researcher:.
do you have the link or scan to the may 1st watchtower qfr?
i tried a link for it but got an error message.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------.
Interesting, it is said that the anointed ones do not have more insights nor holy spirit then the other sheep. Also they must obey the elders and GB.
How come there is no mention of them being members of the FDS class which Jesus appointed over all his belongings
I was wondering about that freetosee.
Maybe they are going to announce sometime in the near future
that there are actually two classes of anointed, and that the fds
consist of those on the governing body only. Anyone appointed
to the gb would automatically become a member of the fds, as
he would now be fully anointed with jah's spirit and have access
to the special insight that the gb have long claimed as the basis
fpr their authority.
this apparent change to the "generation" is pretty major i think.. when we consider all of the changes in understanding (i mean flashes of light!.
the 1995 change extended this old system by detaching the generation from 1914.. then the may 2007 wt qfr detached the gathering of the anointed from 1935.. now the latest change detaches the generation from all mankind except the small group of anointed.. and because of the 1935 detachment this could run for quite sometime.. most r & f jws will embrace this with both hands.
for me that is my greatest concern - millions will not even stop to think that we only had a flash of light about.
What they are doing is postponing armageddon in their members
minds again, Scotsman.
That was the reason for the 1995 change, and the May 1st qfr.
That had the added bonus of giving them a ready made excuse
for if the number of partakers at the memorial goes up again.
The trouble is, as you point out, most jws will simply accept
this latest change and carry on regardless.
well, it's that time of the year again!!!.

Do you really believe these "examples" of giving?
I don't. The watchtower are very fond of putting crap like this in their
publications in the hope that it will shame the jws that read it into
giving more generously to the org, and unfortunately it more often
than not works for them.
dear all (especially those in the uk),.

Gill wrote
Shouldn't the Charities Commission be made aware that during catastrohies and disasters, instead of people donating to specific disasters the Watchtower instructs its members to donate ONLY to the World Wide Work Fund therefore putting money only where it wants to....possibly its own bank account
I included that information in my email Gill.
Being a former accounts servant, I remember how the money was used,
and how it wasn't used, so I made the Charity Commission aware of it.
just wondering if anybody else has heard of a change of the generation teaching again and a change in some of the parables, this was heard by a friend of mine from a couple that was entering gilead(puke) and by a c.o.
just wondering if anybody else has caught wind of this, or if has been written in the new witness only wt.
This came out of last weekend's annual meeting, and considering that,
in the May 1st watchtower qfr they said that the gathering of the
anointed, previously believed to have ended apart from replacements
in 1935, is in fact still taking place, saying that the generation only
applies to the anointed gives tham yet another excuse for the "end"
not coming yet.
They still teach that the anointed have to be gathered before armageddon,
and in the May 1st qfr they admit that they don't know when this gathering
will end. That also gives them a ready-made excuse for if the number of
memorial partakers doesn't drop or even rises, as it has done in previous
years when the annual report comes out in a few months.
For once I agree with JCanon, this is very deft. The org are, no doubt
charlatans, but they ain't stupid.
