Which one is better?
by SixsenceShen inmy friend told me that he will take part in a fashion show next week; he didnt know whether he should choose the iron man 3 or the batman.
in my mind, iron man 3 is hot now; the batman seems a little old, so the iron man 3 is more suitable for the fashion show.
but my friend said, because the iron man 3 is famous, many people will choose it.

Something better than Xmas
by zound insaw the title of this recent watchtower and it reminded me of the standard response to b'days and xmas celebrations:.
"we don't limit giftgiving to a specific day, we give gifts all year round!".
did anyone growing up a jw get gifts all year round?.

I never got presents all year round!! Yes I know they would say "we don't need a special occassion to spoil our loved ones or to remember them, or to show that we love them"
When I left, my first birthday out was celebrated in Paris - the big 30. Every year I celebrate my own - sometimes going large with the "Pink is the New Black", or "Mad Hatters Tea" party theme, or it's quite - but we celebrate.
I love getting and giving presents. Or on mothers' day, I'll wake up and do whatever my mum wants for breakfast, plus the washing, plus make her tea all day.

The TOPIC which may never be discussed!
by Terry inquestion: how does the leadership of jehovah's witnesses instruct its members to prepare for the eventual elder care of its members?.
answer: it pretends it will never happen!.
is this responsible leadership or some kind of cognitive dissonant malfeasance?.

2014 means nothing
by konceptual99 ini know there have been many comments over the recent past about 2014 being potentially a key point in time for the wts as it's 100 years since 1914 but my view is that it means absolutely nothing.. people are people and history shows the psychological hold that organisations like the wts has just carries on captivating people.
the org survived the 1975 debacle and they will potter on for years to come regardless of things like 100 years since 1914, especially since this is something the wts are simply not talking about.
it means nothing to anyone other than people looking for something to bash the wts with.. it's not mentioned in the literature and is unlikely to be anytime soon - why the heck would the wts want to remind people of the length of time?.

I think the masses won't even be aware that it's 100 years since 1914 - there may be a few that will see the religion for what it is, other than that the religion will carry on regardless.

We all know the WTBTS doesn't care about it's elderly no matter how faithful they are to the religion. Classic example is the recent situation with my JW family. Contacted my mother via my aunt after 8 years of disfellowshiping asking for donations from my mother to help out with my aging grandmother. I thought it ridiculous that now it was quite alright to talk with my mother - when they needed finances.
If you have not made plans for your old age, don't expect your brothers & sisters to help you out or the WTBTS.
