If you want to believe in God, read the bible.
It was reading the bible that fianlly made me not believe in God or a god. It's a horrible book.
for the first time in ages though, i actually re-evaluated my position on god/wt.. i had attended a few funerals in the spring and had also reignited some friendships with people from the hall.
but actually, i just keep going round in circles in my mind.
i cannot back an organisation with such a flawed past and one that endorses such policies as shunning & blood.

i'll start .
kingdom hall: a place where cult members get together to be faithful and discreet .
Governing Body - The place and only place where Jehovah's utterances are uttered.
last saturday i was home with my wife, having a leisurely brekky pottering around in the kitchen ,then i noticed her standing still pondering ,what`s up i asked , wife :i thought i heard someone knocking ,i looked out the window to see two middle aged guys exciting my front drive.why didn`t you tell me they were their,i didn`t hear them.
i would have engaged them in conversation , but my wife doesn`t think i ought to,just let it go ,is her motto.. but my point is : i`m not deaf , and i didn`t hear them at the door , we were both in the front room ,my wife only thought she heard someone at the door only to be proved right observing them leaving i was in my pj`s and dressing gown so was not going to pursue them.
we have been living here nearly 5 years now and i can honestly say they have never been on our doorstep more than 4 times if that , i personally have only encountered them 3 times at the most.
I see them 2 or 3 times a year in my neighborhood, but what I have noticed is that they really have no good replys to your questions that are outside of the norm. As soon as you raise one or two objections they politely excuse themselves and head on to the next possible victim.
Welcome back. We could use a few "schisms".
article found here.. .
those who grow up in an atheist household are least likely to maintain their beliefs about religion as adults, according to a study by georgetown university's center for applied research in the apostolate (cara).only about 30 percent of those who grow up in an atheist household remain atheists as adults.
this "retention rate" was the lowest among the 20 separate categories in the study.. there were 1,387 atheists (weighted) in the survey.
I wonder how many of the atheists were real atheists versus someone who just was not commited to any religion. I just posted a experience where a childhood friend of mine, who was Christian as a kid, told a congregation near my home that he is now a bleiver after being raised as an atheist. As for his story it was pure unadulterated B.S.
that is, for those of you who actually think that hitting children is wrong, what types of discipline do you find more effective?
i'm not a parent but when dealing with kids, i've seen that time-outs tend to make kids feel isolated and can really hurt them.
if they're near others and are checked up on frequently, it seems ok. but when they're completely ignored, that is just bad.
You could threaten them with a visit from Sparlock.
if i may ask, for those on this site, who still believe in a god in their own way... why do you still believe in a god?.
since every thing in the bible can be shot down with reason, why would you still believe in a god?.
If there is a higher being out there, it sure ain't paying any attention to our section of the universe. As for the time being, I place my trust in the all powerful "Warrior Wizard" Sparlock.
