If you replace "good" with "sauce" in the Google Scan search, then there is a count of seventeen books with the expression. I don't know which came first.

The other event is what has been reported on our own forum, that of the Quotes site (http://quotes.watchtower.ca/admin-site-map.htm#publications) under recent threat of shutdown by that vast team of lawyers commissioned by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. While most current JW's would have thought that their motherly watchdog society would be tickled pink that people all over the world could have a private peek at the literature -- which the hard working drones spend hours leaving at laundromats, nursing homes, and private homes -- quoted at this site, the legal action speaks for itself. It becomes obvious to non-JW's, that the Society is truly embarrassed by the huge volumes of its own printed blundering predictions, cartoonish teachings, and flip-flop-flipping beliefs and would love to bury this rubbish away from public view.
So, as these two events proceed, I have my own hopes. That Google wins its case because I think as Google goes, so goes Quotes. I see that both are doing a similar venture, simply quoting snippets of the subject literature -- not the entire contents. To me, not violating copy write restrictions. What do you think?

i was (their word) apostate.. i heard that her mother, also a jw, died yesterday.
she'd been senile for several years.. it's been some 27 years since our divorce but i couldn't stop thinking about her mother last night.
Yes, Kwin, I certainly do feel better about it. Not nearly as profound as yours to all the cong. members (that one was so good it's still fresh in my mind) but the more I dwell on it, I think she will be curious when she sees the return address.
Interestingly, her mother always remembered our birthdays -- just a phone greeting or such. That always raised my eyebrows and irritated her daughter somewhat. A JW from the early 40's, she wasn't real staunch, conducted a study here and there with others but more of a coward when it came to field service. Told her daughter that her sinus condition was too bad. Otherwise, a classy lady.

It's been some 27 years since our divorce but I couldn't stop thinking about her mother last night. I decided to write (yes, I don't like machine writing of such things) a letter of condolence to Ex this morning. She may trash it. She may return to sender. I simply felt compelled.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Mxxx and still remember her well.
Her perpetual smile and a truly beautiful one. She still had much of it when I saw her in July, 2004.
Her energy. The slipcovers she crafted for McGregor Furniture. The Slimgym saleslady. The anytime hostess and chef whenever we dropped by. Her generosity. Her patience with Jxxxxxxx. Her optimism.
I remember Mxxx as your best friend and confidant. Few can remember their mother that way.

have you ever wanted to find a post you read weeks or months before but, for the life of you, just could not find it?
i *used* to have this problem all the time.. some time ago i installed the google desktop search engine.
one of the many things it does is it indexes every web page you browse to and provides you with a local search web page that allows you to search your computer.
Several months ago I tried Desktop thinking that it would help me index my daily journals. These are in Microsoft Word and I begin a new journal each January. At the end of each year they are approx. 1/2 mb in size. I've completed nearly five journals.
Then I played around, searching for known strings. It worked -- up to a point. It found strings early in the documents but not toward the end. How deep? After trial and error I found that you cannot find strings that are deeper than some 100kb. That's only the front 1/5 of each journal.
I don't think it's completely relevant to this thread but I thought I'd throw it in the mix.

i've thought several times that if i had it to do over again, living in this age of jwd with all its online support and encouragement -- along with the huge resource of the internet -- that i'd have faded slowly instead of allowed the disfellowshipping because of apostasy.. on the other hand i wonder if that's all stupid speculation, wishfully thinking it would have prevented the cutting off and the shunning of the remaining family members, especially the children.. i know you'll correct me if i'm wrong on the following premise but i suspect if a person is honest, he cannot prevent the disfellowshipping -- in a great many cases.
i believe that it all depends on the vigilance of the local elders and how penetrating they are in their questions, and how perceptive they are with your answers during sheparding calls.. "um ... brother, we've missed your presence at the meetings and in the field ministry and we're certainly here to help you, but wonder if you've actually lost your faith that jehovah's earthly organization is the correct one.
I even let Crisis of Conscience lying aroung the house in hopes he would take a look. Logically, he should have told the elders, no? Shouldn't I be disfellowshiped by now? I never got a call from them and JWs I met in the street smile and talk to me as if nothing happenned? Is my dad trying to protect me? Isn't that disloyal to the society?
