Half banana,
A prepper is someone (or groups, families) who believe some catastrophe and chaos will come and they will be ready! Some have their homes filled with food, weapons, alternative medicines, energy sources, plans to keep those who did not prepare at bay, etc..... when the shit hits the fan (WTSHTF) I think that is the acronym. They come in all levels of paranoia, some more some less. Many have 'bug out bags' and escape routes planned.
They tend to be frugal self sustained types. Their websites do have some good ideas on food preservation and so forth. If the shit ever did hit the fan, I would want to know one of them!
I think most believe it will be government coming after the 'little guy' or a world war that would spur such chaos.

My jw was kind of goofy for a few weeks after the convention, as usual. Over the years I have found it wears off pretty quickly and they return to normal whatever that is.
jw facts- that is awesome! please let us know how that goes.

Not to get off topic but, "It said he was not an employee, acted as "little more than a tidier-upper" after church gatherings and had no responsibility at all for child welfare, its lawyers argued."-- a ms is 'tidier-upper'? is that what they think of their 'servants'? I wonder how current ms' feel about this label?

Jesus Knows the Day & Hour Now?
by KillerJones ini was skimming the july 2016 wt study article and came across a paragraph indicating that, despite scriptural evidence, the governing body indeed feels that god's son now knows the exact day and hour of armageddon.
is this 'new light'?
from the second study article, page 14, pgh 4:.

It has been my experience that jw's do not/will not consider a "neutral third party". Why would they? everybody else is part of satan's world and have no love for jah. They will however consider going to the elders with all your personal business if they find it necessary. (which naturally makes it way around the cong)
I hate to say it but jw's are not the most trustworthy people, even if the husband agrees to not preach or to allow certain things they will make sure to guilt the kids as much as possible about it. They will take every advantage they can to sneak in jw doctrine and crazy nonsense. Don't forget the doom and gloom and the glee over the news with bombings and other world events. Make sure to point out on a regular basis all the wonderful things humans are doing to help each other everyday. Help them to see the world without the blackened glasses of the jw world.
I am not/never been a jw, in fact I have been opposed since my spouse joined up from the beginning. I do not get the official 'apostate' label never having been a jw to begin with. But I can tell you I sure deserve that label! When mine joined up and my kids were young I did everything I could to make sure he could not preach at them. Teach your kids critical thinking skills, educate them about the jw organization including the flip flops, sexual abuses, shunning, no blood, history and so on. No need to lie about anything, these are all facts. I never allowed my kids to step foot in a kh. Yes, it was a rather hellish time when this all went down. Years later we are still together, enjoy each others company and do many things together. I have given up trying to discuss anything jw and realize he must come to the truth about the truth on his own.
If the jw's had any truth they would not care about scrutiny, only people who have something to hide don't want you looking into them too closely.
We always did and still do holidays, my kids got birthday cakes & parties, Christmas, Easter and Halloween. It is a shame that dad is not in the picture for these events both figuratively and literal.
Today my kids are grown and out of the house. They have become Christians (no, I do not believe jw's are Christian) and pray their dad will wake up one day. They still love their dad as does their mom.
If your going through hell keep going! You will get out the other side and it is possible to bring the family intact. Things will get rough but they can get better.
Wishing you all the best.

You can choose to protect your children, or not. Will it be hell for you to do so? Quite probable. That's your job, to protect your kids physically, mentally and spiritually.
It is quite possible to get the kids out now and remain married. The marriage will go through hell for quite awhile but if there is love there it can get better eventually.
You could try and keep it together and therefore you will have more control in their daily lives. Or should you separate every other weekend will be filled with jw activities anyway. Weigh all your options and have all your ducks in a row before you do anything. That would include checking into jw custody issues, an attorney who is familiar with jw issues, finances, etc...etc...
Give your kids a chance at a normal life and they will thank you someday for it. Keep them in the cult and one day you may be the one posting here bemoaning the fact that they are shunning YOU the apostate or spiritually weak one.
I wish you well no matter what you do even if it is nothing it will be difficult to live with.

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.
