Eternal life on a paradise earth? No it wouldn't want that.
Eternity looking at God face to face in heaven? Yes, that sounds much better.
ok, be realistic, would you want to live forever?
what is your view of living forever?

this is a follow on from the post recently about someone feeling their baptism is null and void.. i was baptised in 1983 when i was 13, so before the change of wording.. regardless of the exact wording, i've seriously been wondering about my baptism status?.
after leaving the jw 18 months back, about 6 months ago i became a christian, by christian i mean that i have accepted the importance of jesus and he is my lord and savior.
i feel closer to god than i ever have, and i'm actively involved with church.
As recoreded in the Didache, a valid baptism is one done whilst saying the words, "In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." It doesn't matter if you are fully "immersed." All Christian Churches (at least 99%), view the WT baptism as invalid because it excludes these words. Unless you got a rebel elder to do it saying those words.
Baptism isn't just a symbol, it forgives sins, which most of us, most certainly me, need.

why in heck can't the politicians in dc see that they need to quit trying to take over the world and fix our country?
I think the problems everywhere. At least you don't live in Iran, where the new school is partly made out of newspaper.
to many, belief in god seems natural and normal.
and, in fact, in our society, god is such an important and integral part of things, as he's often mentioned along with family and apple pie, that he kind of gets grandfathered into acceptance.
he seems normal, and mundane, and part of it all.
I'm too lazy. Anyways, who really cares, you don't, do you? It's just a post.
BTW, if you're an atheist, why do you call yourself Satanus? Is it to try to upset religious people? (nothing upsets me, I've seen it all, mostly). I genuinely wish to know.

Let some foriegner come into our land and demand the above, it would be threatening. While i know that your god is imaginary, no threat at all, you are free to worship him as you wish. I do however, resent that you would pronounce that he is going to, or should do this or that to people of earth, and that people should be terrified of your god to the point of shaking.
Apparently you don't understand the function of liturgy. In the Orthodox Church, in which some still use the Liturgy of St. James, they believe in transubstantiation, in which the bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ. The song comes after the Gospel and before the placing of the gifts on the altar. It is meant to prepare one for the sacred mysteries that are to come, not the second coming (though its meaning is plural).

I didn't mean that to be a threat . It's from the ancient Liturgy of St. James (4 AD?), its meant to convey the whole concept of the rex tremendae maiestatis.

and we no longer believe in demonic possession or ghosts or curses or witches
I bet people actually consider themselves witches or "wicca", an old friend of mine included, would take offense to that.
There is nothing worse than smug atheism. Knowledge by faith, its taught in basic philosophy these days. I thank God that he isn't "American and normal." God is not supposed to be.
Let all mortal flesh keep silence,God is beyond all human cogitation.
and with fear and trembling stand;
ponder nothing earthly minded,
for with blessing in his hand
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
our full homage to demand.
the worst one i ever had was working in a frozen chicken factory.
there were about 30 of us in a freezing cold room and my shit job was to feel the half-frozen chicken breasts up, to see if there were any little bones in them.
well after the first 5 minutes my frigging fingers were frozen stiff, so i couldn't tell if there were any bones in there or not........after 20 minutes it felt like my hands were having an out of body experience and if they weren't in front of my frozen face, i would've thought they had dropped off.
My first and only job so far was working for the government at a government owned fair/amusement park. A union job. My job was as a concessions vendor (I basically went around yelling "Penuts, Penuts."). My job training had nothing to do with my job, I was supposed to be paid for my training, but I wasn't. I had to continually walk up and down stairs selling crap with monster trucks were making me deaf. Eventually, a friend who was working with me got me some earplugs, which they supplied @ first aid to employees, but they didn't tell us about them.
Besides continually walking up and down the stairs, it was BOILING hot and I usually had something heavy around my neck (like a tray w/50 water bottles in it). Add to this the fact that it was a fair, and I hate fairs because of their trailer trash connotations. I also had IDIOTIC bosses who didn't really know what they were doing, and who thought they were more important than they really were (1/3 of my immediate bosses were like this, the other two were his subordinates, though, and the higher up managers were $h!theads too). I really hated this job. I had nightmares about working there (like I used to have nightmares about going to elementary school, people raised JWs could probably understand that).
I learned something, however, I'm not meant to work in the service industry.
have i missed something?
does everyone already know that this popular novel includes a depiction of a witness?

What does it matter? Many JWs get so roused and interested when they are portrayed in the "world." A true JW shouldn't be watching TV or possibly morally comprimising books anyways.
