Okay so only weak fundamentalist answers are welcome. That's clear. So when you are done hammering your weakest opponents and the shallowest counter arguments - then you'll get around to tackling the strongest counter arguments, right?

Like Father, Like Son
by cofty inwhen faced with awkward questions about the morality of god many christians respond by distancing themselves from the old testament and focusing on "gentle jesus meek and mild" of the new testament.. for bible-believing christians this is intellectually dishonest.. according to christian dogma jesus was the god of abraham isaac and jacob.
the logos, the alpha and omega who is "the same yesterday, today, and forever.".
he claimed that "he that has seen me has seen the father" and that "i and the father are one".. in short, christians assert that jesus is almighty god from all eternity.. it therefore follows that jesus was the god who ordered the nation of israel to take slaves as inheritable possessions.

I already answered this point on another thread. But because there was a fundamentalist present on that thread you ruled my explanation out of order. (How that follows I don't know) Are you inviting the response on this thread. Or are only weak fundamentalist answers allowed on this thread also?

OKAY, GAME OVER! The number one reason the New Testament amounts to bunk
by Terry infor me, the dead giveaway is this.
jesus wrote nothing.. stop and think about that.. if jesus were the authentic messiah, his ministry would not simply be local.. his instructions, his mission, the details of his teachings would be too precious to risk leaving it in the hands of "men unlettered (illiterate) and ordinary (blue-collar yokels).".
jesus, were he the one and only hope of mankind, would be absolutely certain to write down with great simplicity and specificity the exact owner's manual necessary to rescue mankind.. never happened!.

It is best to tackle the strongest arguments that can be mustered against your position not pick at the weakest. Where was this topic confined to discussing the weakest defences of scripture? -

In case you don't actually know the answer I'll state it briefly. The liberal Christian's typical answer would be that these things did not actually happen they are just stories.
"How's that any better?" Comes the new atheist retort. "The God of the OT is both cruel and fictional and thus doubly condemned!"
Well it's better for a number of reasons. First God didn't actually do those things listed. Secondly while the Bible contains truth it is not infallible and some of its depictions of God reflect the failings of men rather than divine qualities. Thirdly scripture itself suggests that God's qualities are progessovely revealed, so that the NT depiction of God is more accurate and edifying than earlier OT attempts.
JWs and new atheists both detest that way of reading scripture of course because it doesn't fit their simplistic arguments. Neither does it suit their respective agendas, which prefer simplistic black or white readings.

Memorial Non-Attendance: The Single Most Impactful TTATT Witness to JW Friends & Family
by AMNESIANO innote: the following is submitted in full recognition of and with compassion and due respect for those who, due to personal circumstance, feel they are unable to employ this powerful strategy.. ---.
anyone who has awakened to ttatt and has conscientiously left the organization--especially a once-prominent, highly-regarded, studious true-believer from a celebrated multi-generational tribe of jws-- after decades of devout, high-profile "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole watchtower bamboozle.
by this one concession s/he assigns him-/herself by every single jw to their handy and dismissive purgatory: the "spiritually-weak.".

For it to be a bold statement you would probably need to come out and say exactly why you are not attending. If you don't say anything JWs are liable to draw their own, self-serving conclusions: they are spiritually weak/practising sin/ashamed to show their face or whatever.

It can be read that way, no doubt. But so can non-attendance too. So spiritually weak they don't even make it to the memorial.
I tend to think that annual attendance can be a subversive act too. It can be intended and interpreted as a signal that you simply don't take the whole thing very seriously. A reminder to those who attend regularly that it's perfectly possible to get on with your life without the drudgery of regular attendance at the Kingdom Hall. I know that's sort of what crossed my mind as a believer when I saw the same inactive people turn up for just the memorial year after year.

New June Awake with Misleading Statements about Evidence for god
by ttdtt inthe article (faith) is all about why you should have solid evidence based reasons for belief in god.
it's not good enough to believe in god just because you were raised to believe in god.. (from the article).
but god wants those who worship him to have genuine confidence in his existence and in his love.. then it goes on to tell us how we can get that genuine confidence that there is a god.

Proof is proof, not a desire to want something to be real.
I don't believe that the earth is a sphere, it is. I don't believe that there is gravity, it is.That's certainly one way of looking at it!
