What's worse - celebrating Xmas or....
by passwordprotected in....following a false prophet?.
jesus and the bible do not at any point mention birthdays, xmas etc.
however it does have clear rules regarding following false prophets.. .

For me, following false prophets is worse. I did it for over 30 years and then found out that the door to the cage was unlocked.
I've been celebrating Christmas for quite awhile now and love it. Even did it before I totally left the borg, with my worldly friends.
I even helped my daughter decorate her Christmas tree last night and today. It is beautiful. Tomorrow I fly back home to Pittsburgh and I will miss being with her for Christmas. We never did anything for Christmas because of being JW's and it doesn't bother us to not be together for the holidays because we had a wonderful 10 days together for Thanksgiving and our bond is as strong as ever. I'm very greatful that she is out too.
That's why I'm......................

Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !
by Simon inas i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/.
it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

Wonderful news! Thanks Simon.
And I love this part. Even though I'm using my daughter's PC at the moment!
Finally, Mac users will be able to use a proper HTML editor to post, LOL

by Witness 007 inusa today everyone has a gun, why?.....to protect themselves...from who?
other folks with guns!.....yes it's in your laws...but they were written when the british ruled you.
one school gun killing every week does not happen anywhere else in the world....maybe you need more guns to protect your kids.....one in the lunchbox.....does anyone else see this.

For anyone who believe that guns are the sole culprit in killing people then read this....... compliments of Gun Owners of America.
If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words.
Cars make people drive drunk.
and the clincher of them all........

Thank you brother IP_SEC,
You said it all for me.
I'll keep my guns handy because by the time the police get here to protect me, my body will have lost at least 20 degrees!
If someone kicks my door in and refuses to leave via their own two feet, then they will leave in a body bag.
I like the quote that Charlston Heston made............
Fox News Channel
September 15, 1997
"... There's no such thing as a good gun. There's no such thing as a bad gun. A gun in the hands of a bad man is a very dangerous thing. A gun in the hands of a good person is no danger to anyone except the bad guys. ..."

P.S. Hasn't the Aussie crime rate skyrocketed since the confiscation of guns? -

Why do the God haters always have to resort to nasty posts when a Christian makes a post that these God haters should stay out of? They think they have the right to condemn everything but cry like a baby if someone opposes what they believe.
Oh....I see.................."You will be hated by all because of My name..............Mark 13:13
I'd rather be hated by them than be one of them.

Are you having Turkey for Thanksgiving, this year?
by Barbie Doll inwe are going to try to get some of you together for thanksgiving, so we can have turkey.

I like to make the plain old bread stuffing. White bread, celery, egg, onion, (I forget the spice). I better get the recipe out. lol
Then with as many people coming dinner, I probably should make the crock pot stuffing recipe. I've done that one a couple of times and it is good. There are several good recipes online.
I like cornbread stuffing too, but don't know how to make it. Someone else has to make it, but I'll sure eat it.

I'm happy to say that this year I am utilizing 2 "big birds".
The first one is this Sunday. A non-stop flight to Fort Myers, Florida via AirTran so that I can have Thanksgiving with my daughter.
Our last Thanksgiving together was 2005.
The second "big bird" is the one we are preparing...... a 20 lb. turkey with tons of everything that goes with it. I have experience in making the bird and stuffing for years. Everyone who will be there is bringing something or helping us with the cooking.
We are having friends of my daughter over and it should be a good time for all. One of the people coming is a young guy from Germany who has only been in the U.S. for six months and is a bartender at a restaurant she and her friends go to. This guy has no family here at all, so he has been invited to see what a good old fashioned Thanksgiving dinner is about.
Transplanted people in Florida who are busting their butt for the American dream seem to develop a common bond of close friendship. I know from my daughter's experience that she has made some wonderful and loyal friends. That's what it's all about!

Safari Browsing
by AK - Jeff inthough it works terribly with jwd, i have found this browser to be much faster and nimble than most i have tried.
it's problems here on jwd have always forced me to avoid it, since jwd was a big part of my internet experience.
now that i am growing away from things jw related, and know that jwd will not be open that much longer, i have tried it again.

Absolutely right Jeff!
This new Mac OS X with Safari is terrible to use on JWD but it is good with most other applications. I get a lot of e-mails that use Windows (WMV) and I finally learned that I could see them by downloading Flip4Mac.

Everyone here said it all!
Electronics is a fascinating hobby. I started out building a lot of Heathkit items. Back in 1979 I built a complete "ham" radio station with accessories. The only Heathkit I had problems with was the 2 meter rig they had at the time. Can't remember which model it was!
Talked all over the world with that radio. The HW-101 and all with a dipole antenna. I've gone through a few radios since then.
This week I had to dismantle my station since I'm moving the first week of December.
