  I don't know you but you seem to think that your opinion matters more than others.

  No, I just think I'm right. Just like you do.

  My point is, that we already execute people that we are really sure are guilty. But we've been proven wrong many times. So, how high do we set the standard for proof of guilt? How much is enough? And at that point, even if it's obvious to every single last citizen that the person is guilty, what are we gaining by killing this person?

  If killing is wrong, then killing is wrong.

  and QUICKLY put those that are clearly guilty to death

  Again, what constitutes CLEAR guilt? We already have a standard for "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt", that is far from infallible.

  I'm for a form of the Death Penalty.

  There are plenty of cases where there is no doubt as to the guilt of the murderer. They were caught in the act, they confessed, etc. In those cases, I'm all for the death penalty.

  So as long as we are super-duper sure that they are guilty, it's okay?

  How many witnesses would we need? One...two...ten...a hundred? Would we need to have it on videotape, and a confession, and DNA?

  Sorry folks, it doesn't work that way. It's all or nothing.

  If we value life so much that we cannot justify execution, how do we justify the mass murder of people in other countries?

  I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. I think most people who oppose the death penalty would also(in general) have serious problems with the recklessness of the US military. And vice/versa.

  Why should "your" wants be a factor?

  Because society has to come to some kind of a consensus on the matter. And, as a member of said society, I'm welcome to my opinion on the subject. That's why.

  But, to qoute the great George W, I think that "in complex matters like these, we should err on the side of life"(although he was talking about brain dead Americans, not convicts).

  Some admit to their crimes and WANT to die but they still are not allowed. That's just stupid!

  Why is that stupid? Some convicts want a sex-change operation. By your reasoning they should get one?

  I suggest a death penalty that is cost effective and a period of time that doesn't mandate having continous appeals.

  
  

  
  Right. Everytime a pro-death penalty person finds out that it's more expensive than life in prison, that's their answer: fewer appeals.

  Not my idea of justice.

  if not for what they were convicted for, then the stuff they got away with over the years.

  A few get wrongly convicted or convicted with thanks to bad lawyering.

  It does cost the tax payer something like $30,000 a year to keep somebody behind bars .

  Well as long as they are in prison for less than 106 years, it's still cheaper than the death penalty($3.2 million per execution in Florida).

  How does it advance us as humans?

  Also, ever noticed how after the execution, the victims' family are still not satisfied?

  They usually say something like "They got off too easy, they should have suffered as much as my ______."

  Closure indeed.
