Where can I find this letter?
by pennycandy in.
i'm looking for a photocopy of a letter sent from the governing body to traveling overseers dated september 1, 1980. among other things, it included the following quotation.. "keep in mind that to be disfellowshipped, an apostate does not have to be a promoter of apostate views.".
any ideas?

Don't give up
by pennycandy ini have read so many posts relating conversations or correspondance with jw's who you think just don't "get it".
after presenting what you're sure is hard evidence against their organization, they roll their eyes and shoo you away, and you walk away thinking that they're so brainwashed they'll never see reality.. i don't remember every petty negative comment i ever heard about the org, but i'm pretty sure i remember every issue of substance i came across.
a householder at the door explaining john 1:1, a whispered conversation about the content of c of c, an inactive person saying they'll never come back because they discovered the "truth" wasn't the truth, seeing for myself changing doctrine.

Biblically, when should blood be poured out?
by pennycandy inmost notaby, this was done when an animal was killed for food.
does the bible mention any other times blood is to be poured onto the ground?
how about when an animal was killed in self-defense, but not eaten?

Palm Sunday - Hosanna!
by AuntieJane ini know a lot on this board don't believe in formal religions.
a former jw friend of mine said she felt so clueless about other christian churches when she first "got out".. i sat in my church this morning thinking of what palm sunday means to me, the beginning of holy week for christians around the world.
i would like to share this, below.

I told them I was going to church, but in reality I...
by poppers inwhen i was still living at home as a young adult i managed to attend mass every sunday, mostly out of guilt, for the catholic church was good at making you believe that not attending mass without a valid reason was a mortal sin - an offense that would send you to hell for certain.
i usually went to the church in the next town over since it had the latest scheduled mass in the area.
one particular weekend my sister and her husband were visiting and on sunday they drove to that neighboring city to go to mass, so they declared.
