  You have no idea if someone at your table is bluffing or not - you only know that you're bluffing.

  Sixteen years is a long time to sit at the table and not realize that you hold the losing hand.

  No, I don't think I missed the point.

  Choosing which table you are going to sit down at is the first critical decision for a gambler.

  Choosing to stay or get up from the table is the next critical decision a gambler has to make. A good gambler knows when to leave - either because the cards aren't hitting or they have won.

  A gambling addict, however, doesn't have those skills. They will stay at the table and keep playing until they have lost it all. Because a gambling addict isn't addicted to winning - they are addicted to losing.

  Only the blind addict will stay at the table.

  Lol! Except for you...you are the one who was bluffing. And me having little to show for that hand is still more than anyone else at that table. Winning is winning regardless of how much it is - losing is just plain losing.

  Bluffing means you have nothing and are lying to stay in the game and try to steal a pot.

  Then next match wipe you out

  Ah...the sucker's hope and dream - that the winner doesn't get up from the table.

  It's all a game.

  Yeah...it is. And some people can play it better than others. Some people cheat too.

  Others are buried with nobody ever knowing who they really were. They never even existed to begin with.

  Eh...I was married to a professional gambler at one time...bluffing can also make you lose everything. Gamblers leave an awful lot of destruction in their lives and the lives of the people around them.

  You really are not giving the public credit - how many times was a door slammed in your face or the person home just didn't answer? Do you really think that the public is going to change their perception of JWs and grab a free copy of JW literature just because it is in a mall?

  Many of the magazines 'placed' in field service were only taken so that the householder could get back to watching the football game.

  Why is it so traumatic that that same literature can now just be ignored?

  It is non-productive to complain to mall management that some 'harmful cult' is set up in their hallways. It would be a waste of time - you have no legal leg to stand on.

  I say let them have at it - put their stupidity out there in public on display. The numbers will eventually show that their marketing strategies are farts in the wind.

  Orphan, I congratulate you on your courageous stand and that you are able to see your own courage and un-hypocritical qualities. It's not for me though. And my ass is quite comfortable, thanks for your concern though.

  Thank you. Yes, I strive to be non-hypocritical. It is a quality that I value. Courage is an easier quality to pursue. I don't have to strive for that one - maybe it is in my genes.

  I am happy to have met you, though - it interests me that there are so many people walking around with masks on and it is not often that people who engage in hypocritical behavior and dishonesty are so open about it. For that, I congratulate you.

  No doubt your ass is quite comfortable - from reading the above posts, 16 years of building up a callous on that part of your anatomy would give you a lot of padding.

  Good luck. And may those around you never have to confront the reality that they have been interacting with someone who doesn't even exist.

  I also feel hypocrisy is needed/required when getting out of or dealing with this religion. If you're not willing to accept that, it's going to be a lot harder.

  I rejected hypocrisy and that is why I left. I didn't want to be hypocritical - I wanted to truly exist, not be an actor in somebody's else's script. I realize that it is a process to 'get out' but getting out means just that - getting out. Your ass must be getting sore from sitting on the fence.

  What is 'a lot harder' is to continue to be dishonest - it takes a toll on your personal identity issues - hypocrisy is dishonest - both to yourself and others. Recovery is dependent upon honesty.

  The situation you describe is selfish - it is an attempt to retain control, not just of yourself but also of the people around you.

  Getting out does not require hypocrisy - it requires courage.
