  @Xanthippe - I think it's great that women are taking control of lives, joining the workforce, choosing what careers they want and being financially independent. Kudos to you and all the other women who do that.

  But I still don't think you get it. Women aren't oppressed in the Western world, TBH.

  Traditionally, yes, there have been barriers and women were oppressed. Notice the simple past tense, were.

  But those barriers have already been smashed. There is no glass ceiling. It exists only in the minds of extremist feminists. There is a glass basement - that clearly exists - but the feminists aren't interested in that. They sweep that under the carpet while whinging about STEM.

  On this thread about treating women with respect and gallantry you assumed I'd lied about my life - no, I didn't assume you'd lied. It was simply unclear from your post, as I explained.

  I called you 'Princess' because you, as a Western woman, live like a princess compared to the millions of women in the third world who are genuinely oppressed.
  

  I think you owe me an apology - are you a strong, independent woman? In that case, I don't need to apologise and you can accept that.

  But who walks on the outside of the footpath when they're with a lady? - I walk on the outside (nearest the road) whenever I see someone pushing a buggy/stroller. I just can't let a small kid be so near traffic.

  I hold a door open for anyone, but hate when people don't follow the rules - just be polite and show the same politeness to anyone, and expect the same in return, regardless of gender? Yep, this makes sense and is the gist of Blondie's and others' comments.

  I genuinely think female jehovahs witnesses are very demeaned - please read Cofty's post immediately below yours because he nailed it: female JWs are demeaned but not really oppressed ... certainly not as oppressed as male JWs.

  I agree Diogenesister, I regular pioneered for ten years when it was 100 and then 90 hours unpaid work a month - supported financially by your husband or parents? ... this isn't oppression, Princess.

  CHS identifies specifically as a second wave feminist. It's safe to say that the land whale harassing her in the above video is a third wave nut job.

  Notice how the land whale screams 'rape apologist' @37 secs. This was due to CHS examining the feminist claim that 1 in 4 female students had been sexually abused on campus.

  CHS looked into the data and found a figure of 1 in 50. But that didn't fit the narrative, hence the hysteria and verbal abuse.

  It doesn't prove your point at all. You stated we have literally no idea about oppression. You only need to be able to read or even watch movies - Er, yeah, ok.

  Contemporary feminists have read history books and have an excellent knowledge about the oppression of their foremothers.

  And contemporary feminists complain about manspreading, mansplaining, men holding doors open and the gender imbalance of STEM.

  Because they're so clued up and have an excellent sense of perspective.
  

  These feminists really know their stuff ...

  Edit: there are really knowledgeable feminists, people like Christina Hoff Sommers. She often gets de-platformed ... by feminists.

  Anyone who feels demeaned because someone treats them differently because of their gender, in a polite, mannerly fashion, has literally zero idea of what it means to be demeaned - spot on, it's a pity I can only give this one like.

  Western feminists literally have no idea about genuine oppression.

  Women in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and a number of African countries know about real oppression.

  Whining about men opening doors for you is a first world problem, and nothing in the scheme of things.

  But, amazingly, you *do* get feminists moaning about this.
