Blondie pr anyone - I have KM's back into the early 1960's. It looks like they started using a "Question Box" in September 1964. Well...here is the first question: "What viewpoint should we take toward membership in such organizations as the YMCA, if one's membership if solely for the use of recreational facilities?" Would anyone like me to make this a separate post, or do you have this quote already?

If a J.W. went to a Catholic Hospital......?
by hubert inhad to go to a catholic hospital ie: st. mary's, st. stanislaus, etc.say, in an emergency, but was admitted and stayed there for a few days, would he/she get reproved or disfellowshipped?.
would there be an hlc there to make sure that person didn't receive blood?
can the hlc gain access to the j.w.

My first child was born in a Catholic hospital in 1964; because of the Kingdom Ministry article I just posted, I switched to another nearby hospital when my second child was born in 1967; later I had another one in 1974, but by then it was OK again to go to a Catholic Hospital.

I found the old Kingdom Ministry. It was actually from November 1964 on page 4.
Question Box: Should one of Jehovah's witnesses go to a religious hospital for treatment and care?
If a hospital is owned by a false religious organization, then it is operated by a segment of Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion. So those of Jehovah's witnesses who live in an area where they have a choice of hospitals would undoubtedly choose a hospital that is in no way associated with a false religious organization. However, sometimes persons are unconscious and cannot make a choice, or there is no other hospital in the vicinity, or the religious hospital may be the only one equipped to care for the particular thing needing attention. Under these circumstances one of Jehovah's witnesses might go to the religious hospital and pay for care he receives, viewing this simply as paying for services rendered. It would not be the same as making a contribution for the purpose of supporting the false religious organiation. Thus, Jehovah's witnesses may go to religious hospitals for treatment and care if circumstances require it and if they choose to do so.
Is this an example of double speak?

About 1966 the Kingdom Ministry had a question about JW's going to a Catholic Hospital. The answer was "no" you couldn't -- unless there was no alternative. I was pregnant at the time and would have had the baby at the local Catholic hospital, but instead went to another hospital in the same city. About the same time, a brother in our congregation was employed at the Catholic Hospital and his wife convinced him that he should quit even though he didn't want to. They ended up moving out of state because he couldn't find any other employment in the area.
You wouldn't be able to find the Kingdom Ministry article on the CD Rom but I'm sure I could find an original copy of the Kingdom Ministry as I have stashed them for many years. Let me know if you are interested.
Let me add, that it didn't take too long before the thinking changed (I never saw anything more in print) Within two or three years I noticed that witnesses were again working at the Catholic hospital or seeking treatment there. I had a another baby in 1974 and delivered in the Catholic Hospital.

A sister in our congregation was disfellowshipped a few years ago. She had two small children, and another sister invited her children to come over to play with her children. This sister saw nothing wrong with talking to the disfellowshipped mother as long as it related to the children. At the time I was a loyal dub and was surprised. However, it dawned on me how much those children really needed the association. It never occurred to me to complain to the elders, but I bet some would have if they had known about it.

Have any GB members ever had a real job?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini read over the notes on the timothy drama and can't remember when i've been so upset.
the no-college drivel messed up my life 45 years ago, and they are still pulling the same thing on our young people.
if a gb member has ever had a job, has it been in recent years with the high cost of living?

If a GB member has ever had a job, has it been in recent years with the high cost of living? If I remember correctly, only one has every had a family, Albert Schroeder, and he actually graduated from the University of Michigan. I think he was first contacted by the JW's while still in school.
A friend of ours went to the assembly last weekend, and he said people are walking around like zombies.

There were two schools of thought. Fred Franz was the one who originated and promoted the idea of 1975. He wrote the book, "Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God" which started the ball rolling. He printed a chart showing the seventh millenium of man's existence beginning in 1975 and on page 30 he asserted that it would be "according to the loving purpose of Jehovah God for the reign of Jesus Christ, the "Lord of the sabbath," to run parallel with the seventh millenium of man's existence."
I was at the assembly in 1966 when this book was released and news spread like wildfire. Then there nothing more for quite awhile. Then one day in 1968 we got a Watchtower that "In Our Next Issue" there was article "Why are you looking forward to 1975?" Can you imagine the excitement and the talk? Yes, I was one who eagerly awaited the article. But the article didn't quite say it would happen in 1975, it just might. But we spent two weeks studying why it might. People were confused during those years. Clyde and I couldn't figure out why they kept talking about 1975, then they would caution us not to look at a date. Clyde finally stated, "There are problem at Bethel. I believe there are two factions working against one another. I can tell it by reading the literature and listening to the talks." Little did we realize what really was going on as revealed in Crisis of Conscience. Clyde started to realize the truth about the "truth" way back then, it took me many more years.

Yeah - it was a great way to spend my morning. Then in the afternoon Clyde and I went for a long long drive, went out to dinner, and just talked--at least I have someone to talk to. It's sooo hard to get it out of my system. I only go to take my father who is an invalid.
