England out of top ten
England's embarrassing defeat to Northern Ireland last week has cost them their place in the top 10 of the FIFA world rankings. That 1-0 reverse in Belfast saw Sven-Goran Eriksson's side slip from seventh to 11th. In contrast, Northern Ireland shot up 15 places to 101st. Similarly, Scotland's creditable draw with Italy and victory over Norway in the World Cup qualifiers saw them rise 12 places to 74th. The Republic of Ireland fell seven places to 21st while Wales are up one to 82nd. Brazil continue to top the rankings, followed by Holland, Argentina, Czech Republic and Mexico. ESPN Soccernet |
