Suggestions in the January 2005 Our Kingdom Ministry insert for presenting the offer may also be discussed and demonstrated as time permits.

too bad they forget about featuring/directing attention to the bible after the trap has been set.

Do not be so negative, It is not a trap. AT LEAST we are using the bible at the door, thats good, isn't it?

To defd. Yes, it's good. It's just too bad that every month there are parts on featuring the WT/AW and the various publications but this is the first talk in some time to deal with using the bible in the ministry (as the main focus). Apparently the last article printed on it was the September 2004 KM.

Come on Defd if you're a true lover of the bible you have to admit that on some level you wish we would focus more on the bible during the meetings. Not just making practical application (i.e. meetings, service, prayer, study) but really researching the bible and understanding its perspective and the men who wrote it. Digging deep into the scriptures, not just to understand and explain prophecies, but to really understand how the first century christians acted, what they thought, who they were (the same for the OT).

    Defd-

For a sales meeting, this is truly shoddy. Defd - how do you sit through these meetings without thinking about threads on this board? What a privilege to have a part in the "sales meeting".... Yeah, a real big deal. I guess this is an opportunity for many of the JWs on tranqs and hard medicine to relax and soak up "the faith" - SALES!

    defd,

Then why is there about 3000 pages of WT literature reading required per year versus only about 200 pages of actual Bible reading per year for the average jw? Why not admit that the only real reading of the Bible for jw's is to look at what the wt has written, "see, we use that scripture, there it is in the Bible" never mind the context. Why are jw's not allowed to read the Bible without the wt literature? Why do they blatantly tell the rank & file that if you read only the Bible without the aid of the wt's you will fall into spiritual darkness? That you will start believing what Christendom has been teaching for hundreds of years? Could it be because that's actually what the Bible teaches? Why not tell people at the door some honest things about the wt and it's beliefs? Why not knock on a door and lay out the doctrine as it really is?

"Hello I'm a jw (which they never admit unless you point blank ask) here's what we would like you to believe along with us, Jesus isn't really Jesus he's Michael the angel, Jesus invisibly returned in 1874/1914 and chose Russell who was teaching falsehoods as His sole channel to the world, Yes, we have made many prophecies which did not come true, however, we really aren't false prophets cause we admit our mistakes, yes it's true that the Bible doesn't say it's ok to teach false things about God but we figure if we say they are just mistakes rather than false prophecies we are ok with God about that. Also, if you join us we will control everything you do from now on, from what movies you can see to how you make love to your spouse. While it's true that is totally unbiblical we know that you are not capable of making any right or moral decisions for yourself. And hey, life is so much easier when you don't have to think for yourself! Don't forget we like meetings! and lot's of em! To start with you will need some one on one time so figure one night a week for that, then there are Tues, Thurs, Sat, and Sundays. If you family doesn't join with you, they really can't complain. After all we allow you about two night a week with your family. So what do you say? How about that free wt study?

So the ultimate aim isn't to end with their attention on the Bible, but with their attention on the "literature offer."

No wonder they publish "Questions from Readers" from publishers confused as to whether a study using only the Bible can be counted as a "real" study!

Interesting also that the first item is how to present the magazines. One of which is to a return visit.

Then we get featuring the Bible on initial calls , either its magazines or Bible.

You can bet most JW's will go for just presenting the magazines.

I wonder how they got on with the second item "Witness without words"

They would have a hard job in my old congregation finding anyone, who became a JW after seeing their conduct.

I wonder if they will be counting time as witnessing if they they pretend to have good conduct in front of others.
