Just wanted to thank you for your talk "The Final Exit Door" at BRCI. I just got around to listening to the tape ... as you may recall, I had to deal with a small emergency and hence did not get to hear you deliver the presentation.
You are absolutely right. What most of us really want from the Society is ACCOUNTABILITY. They have promised so much, and taken so much, yet delivered nothing. They insist on strict accountability from their minions, right down to reporting the number of hours spent in service each month, the number of pieces of literature, etc., etc., ... oh yes, and in the case of 'wrongdoers' even the exact number of times you 'did it' (whatever it was), the degree to which you enjoyed it, ad infinitum.
The Society is meticulous in requiring accountability on the part of others. Yet it offers no accountability for itself or those speaking on its behalf, other than a vague assurance that if the 'faithful slave' is in error, God will correct it in His due time. This is indeed what many of us find most galling--the total refusal to account for the Society's words, policies, and actions even when they have the most far-reaching implications for people's lives!
