Here's is a next in a series of biblical sayings that people run with their assumptions with - this particular one has been discussed recently but I thought it so basic that I should include it here, and again - so score yourselves - how did you used to perceive this - how do jws perceive this - how do you hear/perceive it now?
fear of God is the beginning of wisdom
- people who don't fear God are not christians (score 0)
- fearing God is appropriate to an ongoing relationship with him (score 0)
- "God fearing" people are the wise and righteous in our society (score 0)
- if one fears God there is a path to wisdom open to step into (score 2)
- if one doesn't fear God there is no path to wisdom open (score 0)
- one who fears God is simply at the beginning of something (score 2)
- the above does not indicate anything more than may be associated with a beginner (score 2)
- those who don't fear God are not even beginning (score 0)
