well the sound was atrocious..but it usually is in a stadium...couldnt hear a word bono was singing or saying...and man did he have a lot to say..mostly about africa and g8 and third world debt..shame really...50,000 drunken scots hanging on his every word..missed opportunity

but the show was spectacular...and we didnt need to hear the singing cos crowd drowned it out anyway

im going to play this venue next year...book early

I really wish musicians would leave their politics at home. People don't go to concerts for that crap...they want to hear some tunes and have a good time.

Pearl Jam is the same way. I went to one of their concerts back in the 90's and Vedder went on and on about abortion and a bunch of other garbage that no one wanted to hear.

eddie had a view things to say on the last tour too.

it didn't appear that no one wanted to hear though...and this is the heart of bush country .

sorry, not to hijack. pretty good pics. i'm surprised they turned out as well as they did.

Wow, tij ... that must have been quite a spectacle ... I don't go to the big concerts myself, cause I want to HEAR them ,,, but wow, U2 ,, I'm jealous.

I'm a big admirer of Vedder myself. These people have a large audience, and can sometimes move people to action by speaking out about what they see as injustices in the world. What I think, sonnyboy, is that these people move in the 'big' money circles, and have a good perception of how the world is really controlled by the power brokers. I think it's a good thing that they use their venues to promote causes .... but each to his own, and I do understand and respect your opinion that some folks (including yourself) want them to only play music.

The Stones are coming here this summer, 70,000 fans expected and I won't be one of them.

    lol @ Preston!

tal Edit,,, tij, so will there be any 'comps' for your big show next year, and how do I get one?

    Camera phone pictures, eh?

It sucks that they don't let people bring in Digital SLR cameras.

yeah i know what you mean about the preaching...although to be fair i think that for a long while now anyone going to a U2 gig knows there is going to be some cause highlighted

and it does work...during one of the songs ( i think it may have been 'one' )..there was a number on the big screens with the message 'text the word africa and your name to this mobile'

plenty of people did including me...i dont contribute at kh anymore so contribute to a lot of things that it was frowned upon as jw...and at the end of the gig across the huge centre screen came the words..'thanks for donating' followed by the names of everyone who did.. i tried to see my name and get a photo but it must have already passed by the time i worked out what was happening

interestingly i think that had they said in advance that everyone who made a text donation would get their name on screen many more would have done so...so i suppose that the fact they didnt made it more voluntary than it would have been if they had said so

the really annoying thing though was the fact that we couldnt make out what bono was saying..personally i would have liked to have heard the man

I think it's totally cool (and even admirable) that people with talent, money and influence use whatever they have to promote the causes that they believe in. But also have nothing against those who prefer pure entertainment. Each to their own...

And I'm looking forward to all your gigs, tij, large and small. You know you can count on my support 200%, considering I like your music as much as I like you. Everybody's gonna be hearing it soon soon soon and will be so blown away! Sooo----heads up EVERYBODYand stay tuned
