ok, i know this is a serious illness.. one of my kids suffer from it. but this just made me giggle.

Tomorrow is international awareness day but members of Nelson's chronic fatigue support service say they are too tired to arrange any activities.

The illness, which is officially known as myalgic encephalomyelitis, or ME, is characterised by incapacitating fatigue.

ME/CFS Nelson Support Group co-ordinator Anna Loach said though a few posters had been put in some libraries, the illness meant the group was not able to plan anything else to mark the awareness day.

Four of the group's five committee members suffer from the condition.

"They can feel great one day and the next they feel really burnt out."

Despite not having anything organised for tomorrow, Mrs Loach said the group was determined to expand services and support.

"They've really got the drive and they are positive about the cause." The group has drafted a constitution and is seeking more funding to employ an area co-ordinator to support families in the wider Nelson region.

Hey candidlynuts, here's a link that might interest you... http://www.immunesupport.com/library/showarticle.cfm/id/3420

...I've started taking 5-HTP to help boost my serotonin levels. Apparently, a deficiency of serotonin can have all kinds of ill effects on us from CFS, depression, obesity, etc. I've recently purchased a book about 5-HTP and serotonin levels. It's an excellent book that you can buy on amazon.com. Here's the link:

For me, it can be hourly! I'll wake up feeling lousy. Feel good later in the day for an hour or two. Hit a wall and zone out. Then cant get to sleep at night.

Or: I'll wake up feeling great! By the time I get to the coffee pot, I feel like crap and have to go back to bed.

    Or: ad nauseum.

Plus, I have FibroMyalgia ... a royal pain in the arse and everywhere else.

I'll put the screw cap back on my red whine now.

Wondering how many X-Jdubs have this? My sister has it, too, though she's still in. Came on after a bad marriage ending in divorce.
