Subject: [fathers_in_action] Request for TV - personal stories
There is a TV producer who wants to pitch a show to the CBC on the difficulties fathers encounter after divorce. This would be a one hour show (43-45 minutes) on one of the CBC's news magazine like shows (e.g., The Passionate Eye). She's looking for one or two strong emotional stories with many twists and turns, demonstrating the human and financial costs of the current divorce system as seen from a Canadian father's point of view (preferably, a father who has a second family).
She is somewhat cognisant of the current harshness of the system, having a relative who who has gone through it: an ex who, although remarried, frequently brings him back to court; the financial ruin that left him couch-surfing for a while: the usual horrors.
If you think your case might be suitable, and you are interesting in having it made public, with all the potential problems that this may bring (e.g., judges who accuse you of exploiting your children for publicity), you may contact me OFF LIST with some details and I'll pass on cases to the producer. I presume she'll want a case upcoming action (like 6 months), including things like bankrupcy, civil cases outside of the usual family court thing, or impact on other family members (e.g., elder care becoming impossible due to financial strain).
