I just got back from the pasture. I was out, at night, with my horses. I can't see them, but I trust them. I can smell them, feel them and hear them. It was very dark out there. The two older horses, of course were very wary of me being out there.and kind of snorted and walked away. The baby, I have raised since the day he was born. I had my hands on him the day he was born, put his halter on that day, and have never raised a hand to him. Well, he's not a baby any more, he's actually five years old.. hehehe.

I wanted to test their trust of me. I sat down at the edge of the hay pile, where they were eating. What I was really trying to find out is if they totally trusted me. I wanted to find out if they would keep on eating, even though I was there, and if they would try to hurt me. The two older horses walked away a bit, but the baby kept eating. In fact, when I tried to walk to the other side of the pasture, he followed me. I put my head down on the fence post and pretended like I was crying. I put my head down in my arms. He started nibbling on my hair and when I didn't respond, he started nudging me. I still pretended that I didn't know he was there, and he began to try to knock me over. I fell down to the ground and pretended I was dead. I lay on my stomach and pretended I was dead, and watching him out of the corner of my eye. He could have reared up and literally killed me, I was that vulnerable. He moved back and started pawing the ground. He moved around me and sniffed the ground and started nudging my body with his nose, sniffing and pawing. He just kept nudging me. I was amazed...

Our pets are so valuable to us.. and they love us, and we love them. Never in my whole life would I have imagined that a horse would think so much of me, I am honored. What about your pet? Any interesting stories?

Aw how lovely! I've always been a bit scared of horses though, but I hear they're lovely and very intelligent.

We have two cats and a dog. Our dog is only a puppy, now 14 weeks, he is so sweet, I love it when he greets me and is just so happy to be in our company.

Loved your story. Wifey is a real horse lover - she gave them up though due to cost, ect.

My story is about my cat - Taz. I spent a couple of years very depressed - during the time that I was starting to see cracks in the Watchtower organization. [ I didn't know why until later.] Anyway, my cat sensed that and he became my best friend, always sitting on my chest and purring loudly. Each time I felt all alone in the world he would jump up and nuzzle me back to life. I think he saved my life in a way. Not that I was suicidal - but I was so alone - and he always did his best to tell me I was loved.

Well - after exit from the borg I am healthy again regarding the depression. And I think I owe those tough months' survival to a 7 pound cat named Taz. They seem to have a deep sense of understanding that is often not credited to them.

Thanx for starting this thread - it reminded me to think fondly of Taz today.
