You may receive an e-mail from an organization claiming to be Regions Bank/Union Planters Bank. This e-mail will ask you to verify account information so they can update their database. As with usual Phishing scams, if you provide this information, the scammer(s) will access and drain your bank account(s). When opened, the Web page will contain a version of the Stealus virus (so make sure your virus alerts are updated--better yet, don't open it!) Forward the e-mail to [email protected].
Please remember that legitimate banking websites will never e-mail you to verify account information. In this day and age, your identity and personal information should be safeguarded with the utmost importance, and you should do business with organizations who treat it the very same way.
