Englishman - how's your buddy George doing? Last we heard he was still playing and sitting in the wonderful winter mud of England.

George is fine - thanks for asking.

He still sits in puddles and digs in the mud. We're operating a system where we're got of 2 cat flaps. One lets him into the conservatory from the garden, the other lets him from the conservatory into the main part of the house.

We've put out some old cushions in the conservatory for him to sleep on and still be warm. This also gives him a chance to dry out before he comes into the house. When we come home we check him out for mud, then let him into the house.

As Her Ladyship says, keeping cats is all about having them around you. So our new 3 piece suite gets it's first clean this spring.

    Englishman.

Oh so good to hear. Yes, if you have 'pets' they must be a part of the family, and your solutions sounds like a good one. But hey, gotta clean the furniture every now and then anyway, eh?

We live and decorate for our cats (Maxmillion SanQueue, Dominic, and Princess White Paws). They have 7 cat nests around the house in addition to any hidyholes they divise on their own. They have their own bench (an old half-meter wide door on top of 2 bookcases) in front of the livingroom window. They have 2 cat doors - one to the upper deck, and one to the front porch. AND at least one sleeps with us at least part of the night.

Max is diabetic and gets 2 shots per day. He has arthritis in his hips. So, he has boxes etc stacked to get to favorite places.

I had cats instead of children.....
