What are us old folks to do? Use up our money living in an "assisted living" old folks home or spend the money on a cruise ship??

Sounds like a ridiculous question, doesn't it?? Maybe not. I found this in an AARP publication.

SERVICES PROVIDED ASSISTED LIVING CRUISE SHIPS

    MEALS PROVIDED? OPTIONAL YES

    HOUSEKEEPING? OPTIONAL YES

    24/7 MEDICAL CARE? NO YES

    ESCORTS TO MEALS? OPTIONAL YES

    STAFF TO CLIENT RATIO? 1 TO 10--40 1 TO 2--3 !!!!!!!!!!!

    AVERAGE COST / MONTH ? $3000.00 $3000.00 !!!!!!

    WELL WHADA YA THINK???

I BET IF ALL OF US OLDER POSTATES GOT TOGETHER AND NEGOTIATED THIS WITH THE CRUISE LINES, WE COULD DO EVEN BETTER.

Outoftheorg of the "I get sea sick" group" oh well.

I live in FL, near many cruise ships and I heard that there was an older lady who cruised permanently. I think it was on Royal Caribbean. She was ALWAYS on a boat and always dined and socialized and danced.... can't verify it's true... but it's a great idea. I like it! Plus there is the added benefit of Cabana boys to do my fetching and toting... why bother with some stupid nurse when there is a Cabana boy around to bring me a drink with an umbrellie in it!!!!

Paul Harvey did a story about this the other day on the radio...the difference in price was hardly anything over a period of years...I vote for the cruise ship!

Hey JTP, just cabana boys?? What about cabana - girls - I'd much prefer that.

    Dog on gender prejudice anyway.

Ah yes, sitting by the pool with a pinya sp? colada. Maybe don't need the cabana girls after all. Outoftheorg

I wonder if the incidentals were in the $3000 estimate. If one has to put their stuff in storage or give their stuff to their kids anyway, what's the difference in living out of a suitcase? A cruise sounds much more fun!

Ahhggg, gagg... etc. No more old, fat cruise ship passengers. I almost killed 20-30 a day. They would have 3-7 ships in port on the Caribbean island I was living on. Dummies would always walk in front of my car (they assume everyone drives on the right, even in British territories).

One of the first dive classes I took many years ago was with a group of cruise ship passengers. Well... 1st came the medical questionnaire. Of all 30 of us... guess who was illness / drug free? Yup. I got a private lesson.

Keep him / her in a facility and take her to the Pacific Coast of Mexico on a cruise, please spare the Caribbean! lol

Stay at a Holiday Inn. You'll save $1,000 a month over the ship. And when you have an 'accident', a call to room service will still result in a miad at your door with clean sheets.
