Probably not. My guess is that the elders would not reinstate
someone who did not go out in service. So a person would have
to attend meetings, go out in service, do all those things that
make it look like you really are repentent and want to come back.

It could be a lengthy process of faking it. Is your mom up
    to that?

of town and become an innactive witness. Do you think this could
    work?"

After the lengthy reinstatement process, moving and becoming inactive
might work. It would depend on the elders in the congregations
involved. Some are more zealous about keeping track of people than
other congregations. And remember, your congregation file follows you
where ever you go if they are informed about your where abouts.

Just some food for thought that might help you decide best
    what to do. Quester

Don't quite get it - why go thru that bit of so-called "trouble" if one does not believe in it? Wouldn't that be just about the nicest example of hypocrisy ever watched?

Technically, a DF'd person cannot go out in field service. They may do their own form of informal witnessing (talking to friends or workmates etc) but not in the congregational sense. Nor could they take out a territory map and go door-to-door. It's just not on.

My advice to LisaBobeesa's Mum is to remain as you are for the time being, to see if your daughter softens in her approach to you. Then, if you feel you have no other choice, then go ahead. You know what is ahead of you in order to be re-instated.

I can understand your wanting to be re-instated purely to regain contact with your other daughter and your grandchildren. I guess some will go through anything for the sake of their family.

Whatever you do, be strong and be assured that you have heaps of support on this board!

nice to meet you Hippie, welcome
kind of a catch 22 situation really hippie,
the lady wants contact with her daughter and the jws set the rules.
it clearly states on the official http//www.jw-media.org that shunning does not affect family ties, if that was true then she wouldnt be in this situation to start with,
