No sound on my pc, suggestions??

  Any ideas of how I can troubleshoot before packing my hd to the shop to be repaired?

  OK.. the first things I check are:

  Power... (sounds stupid, but I have actually troubleshot a full speaker system then found I didn't have the power on)

  The speakers are physically turned up. Usually there is a knob on there.

  The volume is turned up on the computer. In Windows, go to Start -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control, I believe. Make sure everything is turned up.

  Hope this helps, though I suspect you have tried all this.
