This is my second year filling a shoe box for a needy child somewhere in our big world. The people that run this program are called "Samaritan's Purse", and they have gone a long way towards helping me maintain my joy for the season. I have so much fun filling the box with simple, basic items that will make a child smile.

There are only a few more weeks left to fill the shoeboxes. I have so much fun doing it, I just had to share.

Is it too early to be talking Christmas?

    Great Jgnat

The school our kids go to have had this as their yearly appeal this time (they usually collect for local charities)

We sent our shoeboxes in last week

We explained it to the kids and they really enjoyed filling the boxes and were really thoughtful about it.

Who said children don't "get" giving? I told my four year old granddaughter we were making up a shoebox for another girl just like her with no mommy and daddy, and she is fascinated. She "gets" it!
