The 3rd Reich and the 1000 yr Reign - coincidence or not?

I have thought about this similarity for a very long time. Especailly since reading "30 Years a Watchtower Slave"

Now Rutherfors was around at the same time as Hitler. Although neither had the original idea about the 100 years they both had their version of it. And both wanted to be around to make it happen.

I find it interesting that at the same time that Hitler was convincing people of his 3rd Reich, Rutherford was busy in Germany laying the foundations for the publishing company we see today.

Now Hitler and Ruterford certianly weren't the only ones believing in a 100 yr reign. But they are the two I'm thinking of at the moment. Their methods of manipulation and control were pretty much the same in some ways - do it or die (Hitler had his armies and Rutherford said God would do it).

They both advocated a pure race (Hitler a physical one and Rutherford a spiritual one) They both set out to wrest control away from religion and even both denounced the Jewish people.

Both were willing to use and abuse and discard those who didn't follow the party line

Hmmm must think about this some more.

Any one else see some of this.

    Very interesting!

I wonder if we could scan through some of the stuff published under his "rule" and glean whether he was in agreement with Hitler (a secret nazi?)

While not directly related to your question, Lady Lee, this paper by Randy Watters is interesting.

SHOULD PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES PRINT BOOKS?

A photograph in the Watchtower book, True Peace and Security, How Can You Find It?, depicts several officials of the Roman Catholic clergy rendering a Heil Hitler salute.1 This is indicative of the Watchtower's never ending condemnation of the church, whom they allege "compromised woefully"2 during the second world war. Yet, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Or, as Jesus so eloquently put it, "How can you take the speck out of your brother's eye when you've got a plank hanging out of your own?" Whether the Church endorsed or denounced the tenants of Nazism is not the thrust of this study. What is germane, however, is the fact that Watchtower leadership themselves attempted to compromise "woefully" with the German Reich!

    Third Reich

Official designation for the Nazi Party 's regime from 1933-1945

The name reflects Adolf Hitler 's conception of his expansionist regime—which he predicted would last 1,000 years—as the presumed successor of the Holy Roman Empire (800–1806, the First Reich) and the German empire under the Hohenzollern dynasty (1871–1918, the Second Reich).

Perhaps Penton's forthcoming book will answer some of these questions, as it will pertain to Hitler and the JW's (Bible Students).
