My mother tells me about the wake to which I'm going to today even though I honestly never met the man but in the same call my mother tells me I need to go to the memorial on sunday or whenever it is....I told her I already made plans to meet an old friend whom I just got back in contact with's fiancee and see his new house. She hung up. Ah what a twisted and tangled web we weave...
My great-uncle passes away....

So would your mom have even called if it weren't also for the opportunity to
impose a guilt tripremind you to go to the Memorial?Remember, if you aren't in attendance Sunday evening -- you'll miss the chance to pass the bread and wine back to the attendants (be still my beating heart!!). Also, you may pass by the chance to live forever in a paradise earth with all faithful servants of the Watchtower, um, Jehovah.
Man, you don't know what you're missing out. Or maybe you do.

Sorry about your great uncle passing away,,,,,,,and sorry for your mom's reaction to you not going to the Memorial. Very typical, thou, my dad disowned me , before I even mentioned being an apostate, or giving him reason to think I was, all over the fact I wouldnt go to the circuit assembly. That was the last time I saw my dad , over 2 yrs ago.
Well, excuse me for not obeying you dear father. I should have told him to take notes for me,,,,,,no wait,,,,I probably have notes from former assemblies that say the same damn thing.

Witness parents are living in a controlled society and this atmosphere infects them so the control their children. The problem comes when these "children" become adults and decide they have minds of their own, as Tuesday and lyineyes have proven in their posts.

Thanks for the sympathy guys, I do feel bad I lost a family member but am somewhat stunted by the fact I never really met him. The memorial thing bugs me just because it's like people should know the proper time to ask things, don't tell me my grand-uncle died then ask me to the memorial. At least use a different phone call, seriously. Tact is the better part of valor...or is that discretion. Eh, whatever, I do agree with LyinEyes though I'd love to take notes at the memorial except I have the same notes from every meeting I was at, er assemblies...ok so I never took notes. But I did have some kick ass sketches in all the margins!
