Under the rule of Sadam this was not possible. The WT likes to brag about the world wide work that they alone are doing. These people gave up their life trying to help the peoples of IRAQ, not by peddling their religious doctrine but instead by providing clean drinking water to the people.

Anyone get the JW yearbook for 2003/4? Is there any mention of their missionary work in IRAQ?

I recall back in the '80s having to listen to my cousin and his wife relate (brag) about their work as missionaries in Columbia. All the violence they had to endure because of the fights between rival drug gangs and the government. They even had a story in the Awake! about them. Putting their lives in danger, for what? To give people magazines. Sheesh! Looking back on it, how insane. At least these baptist missionaries were truly trying to make the lives of those in Iraq a little better by helping them in a pratical way.
