House hunting and bidding frenzy

My husband and I have been house hunting, and I have to tell ya. It's a jungle out there.

It's like a house is a prey, and all the buyers are wild beasts. They all gather as soon as they smell "house for sale," and the real fight begins. Among the beasts, that is. It's bloody and not pretty at all. And the owner of the prey (the seller) enjoys watching it.

Is this happening only in California?

Know what you mean! I went looking at beach property last weekend on the Oregon coast. The cheapest lot available was .10 acres for $165,000. Luckily it has all the utilities in so we won't have to develop it, just start construction once the papers and permits are signed.

I heard it is that way in the Seattle area too. It's been on the news............if you find a house you like, you had better seal it up on the spot. An hour later, it's gone. The market is great for sellers.
