Of course what is NOT stated by the JWs to the press is the lack of reporting done by the elders in states and countries that do not have mandatory reporting laws or situations in the past where they did not report since child is now an adult or just didn't report like in the Berry case.

Nothing like reading a good "lie by omission" on a Friday morning.

Hey, you forget that they don't report in mandatory reporting states either. They almost never do!

The group, Silent Lambs, says it is the only support group for sexually abused Jehovah's Witnesses

There might be one or two more.

Dear J Gibson and B. Lewis,

Thank you kindly for doing this important child abuse story for the public. I also recall your paper doing excellent stories on the JW advocate, Barb Anderson, who was one of the first to alert the public to child abuse issues in the JW organization. Your stories help the public understand just what is going on to thousands of children within this organization that requires its members to knock on the public's doors.

It was interesting to read the Jehovah's Witnesses headquarter's response of reporting child abuse in places where the law requires it. The response as with previous responses conveniently forgets to tell the media that elders do not report child abuse in USA states where no mandatory reporting law exists (which I believe is about 30 plus USA States). The organization also conveniently forgets to explain that elders will not report historical child abuse if the survivor is an adult at the time a report is filed with the elders (which happens very frequently). And even though the elders may report the abuse in certain states - as they may do in my country of Canada - the Watchtower still refuses to release any private files that its headquarters has collected on child abuse issues to the police.

I will let your readers decide if the Watchtower's statement is missing a few key points and helps protect little kids.

I look forward to more coverage of the issue by your news organization on this topic.
