  I know this doesn't compare at all.... but I have nightmares about my ex/first husband killing my children. He abused me and I worried when the courts gave him custody of the two oldest kids. I tried to fight it when they picked their dad. I told the courts that not only did he have a temper and I worried for the children but that they would be alone a lot, since his job at the time took him out of the home 2 to 3 weeks out of the month, so not only was he not a good influence, but those children would basically raise themself. Those two boys were 13 and 14. The age in the state was 14 to pick where you wanted to live. They said my middle son was close enough in age and let both boys chose. Their reasoning was that the the most formidable years were already past. They would become who they would become no matter where they went now. I think the courts plain just did not care. I can't tell you how many times that man said he was going to shoot all of us and then himself which is why I still have nightmares.

  Yeap. In my experience, even if one has proof of violence committed by the other parent (arrest record and conviction) from an unbiased source, the goal of the family court is to put the child back into an unsupervised situation with the offending parent.

  When people make statements such as this after such an event it makes me want to scream.

  So very sad for this mother and the young lives snuffed out, my heart goes out to the family.
