  Here in the UK male homosexuality was a criminal offence until 1967. Female homosexuality has never been illegal and various "famous" women over the years have been openly lesbian or bisexual.

  I think this has contributed to the difference in attitude, certainly in the UK

  Homosexual means both men and women. The JW's don't distinguish between the two. Never have. It's just the term they use that's all.
