Sounds horrific. I'm not sure that state-sanctioned reciprocal violence is the answer though. Also, what ever happened until 'innocent until proven guilty'? Courts are also interested in context to see if there are any mitigating factors (for example, history of parental violence towards the sons? allegations of parental abuse, etc).
