This time last year, I posted this:

Well, yesterday, I noticed they're selling Christmas trees again.

    Season's greetings everyone.

    Duncan.

    ps.

How they grow: last year, my 6-year old daughter wrote a letter to Santa.

This year, my now 7-year old daughter, newly savvy and technologically empowered, went through the Argos catalogue and constructed an excel spreadsheet:

Page, item no, description, cost, quantity.

it's that "quantity" that really got me. Brilliant. (It was 1 in every case)

    I hope Santa's on e-mail.

re: your daughter. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Duncan, digging up your "Armaggedon at the atm" story is just about my only Christmas holiday tradition... sort of like listening to Alice's Restuarant on Thanksgiving day (does this reference make any sense to a Brit?).

    Hi Six,

re: your daughter. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Yes, at the risk of sounding sexist, my two boys are every bit as interested as getting stuff for Christmas and birthdays, but my daughter is just so much more organised about it. It's a girl-thing.

"Armageddon at the ATM" pops up every now and again, doesn't it? It's three years old now. I originally wrote it on H20 at Christmas 2000.

    best regards

    Duncan
