Just had an email which shocked me, "Chelmsford ready to open in September"
However not THE Chelmsford but the upmarket department store John Lewis, together with their very upmarket food store, Waitrose. So some progress in Chelmsford but not what we were expecting.
John Lewis a bit too dear for bethelites but handy for those visiting new bethel to chill out in. Apparently John Lewis used no volunteer workers on site! Opening right on time and no Japanese Knotweed in sight.
John Lewis Partnership is unusual in that it is wholly owned by staff, a bit like bethel, only JLP staff are well paid and get good bonus payments whereas bethelites get a pittance with added bonus of layoff with no payment of a bonus, looming over them. Perhaps bethelites could moonlight at JLP?
