Attorney Pleads Guilty in Sex-With-Minor Sting

A Los Angeles attorney has pleaded guilty to charges that he traveled to a hotel to meet a 16-year-old girl from Georgia who turned out to be an undercover police detective. Eduardo Brito Leaton pleaded guilty to one count of meeting a minor for lewd purposes and three counts of using a minor for sex acts, according to the Los Angeles County DA's office. Leaton is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 18 to six years in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender for life.

This seems to be older news. Do you know if this was the same person?

  • oppostate

Yeah, it's the same person, and it was news to me.

I guess he used to go by oroborus21 which is the same as his email on the Calif. Bar contact email address for him.

But you would think that the WT would jump all over having the name "Jehovah's Witnesses' trademarked like JW.0RG is now.

oppostate - "Trademark on name 'Jehovah's Witnesses' is expired."

So that's why they're pushing the "J-W-dot-org" thing...

They can't afford to re-register the trademark.

There is no any indication that WTS even tried to register "Jehovah's Witnesses" as a trademark. Eduardo Leaton filed the application on his own behalf, and it was abandoned, never registered.

    And another interesting link:

Report from over 8 years ago. Read the background carefully and fact check: He was trying to register the name but NOT on behalf of JW organization.

This is how rumours are spread.

Eduardo Leaton participated both on H2O and here in the early days of JWN.

Although he started out an a apologist he was (AFAIK) no longer a JW when this incident happened.
