Hurricane Matthew: Relief help report is too vague

When Jehovah's Witnesses report on their relief work, they seem to purposefully remain vague. All I get out of such an article is this: Don't worry, no one you should worry about died. But there are a lot of damage and we are here to help the survivors. So donate to the world wide work fund to help us doing it.

    Report: https://www.jw.org/en/news/releases/by-region/united-states/hurricane-disaster-20161019/

    What it says:

Bahamas: 700 JWs impacted. ? Damaged houses ? Destroyed houses

Cuba: ? JWs impacted. 124 damaged houses. 21 Destroyed houses.

Haiti: 700 JWs impacted. 274 damaged houses. 73 Destroyed houses. 4 KH destroyed. 15 KH damaged.

USA: ? JWs impacted. 125 damaged houses.

    So, we don't know

    • How many JWs are actually impacted.
    • How many of the Impacted JWs presently need help.
    • How is the watchtower collaborating with other charities and the government to help in this situation?
    • How much funds are used to provide the help and exactly what type of help is needed.
    • What are the current and future needs in which watchtower hopes to be of help.

This report was produced 4 days ago. Surely they have gathered more information by now. Yet, they obviously keep it vague, like all the other "charity" work report they have produced.

As we do not have actual numbers, we have to speculate:

2,000 impacted JWs at 200$ each (food and stuff). That's 400,000$. With the same logic, add the Sri Lanka disaster 40,000$, and we have 440,000$ in disasters help so far, this year.

Sadly, even if it they gave away 2 million dollars per year in helping with disasters, it still would not be enough for the them to brag about it the way they are. 2 Million dollars would be mere pocket change.

I think it was around the time of Hurricane Katrina when Watchtower's ulterior motive was exposed.

They told people donating money to NOT SPECIFY on their cheques that the money was for "Hurricane Katrina relief work", that they would know best what to do with the money. Legally, any money donated with a specific intent *must* be used in the manner specified.

Next, the JWs who were assisted by WT-organized relief work were targeted afterward, and asked to remit any insurance monies to WT, since The Brothers™ had helped them at no cost (but doesn't that imply that a cost is being levied against them - so the work was never truly free of cost to begin with?)

Clearly, the WT's motive in providing disaster relief was to gouge donations from sympathetic donors and then take advantage of the gratitude of disaster victims by asking to be repaid for the "free" "volunteer" help that was provided to them once they received a cheque from their respective insurance companies.

Sculpt you are so correct, I had asked our Done who he and other relief workers from our congregation if they in fact had asked that the monies from the insurance companies be given to the society? He said yes, he believed that those monies would be used to help finance the relief work. Knowing the society they just put that money in their coffers. The idea of free doesn't exist in the WTBTS world everything has a cost. I remember if you wrote a check don't put Katrina relief work on it and that is why we didn't donate.
