There is a very interesting story unfolding in Massachussetts involving a then 28 year old JW accused of indecently touching a 14 year old girl in the Kingdom Hall in Amherst in 1998. The trial has now begun.

Does that mean he did it?

Look below and you'll notice the compilation for Massachusetts has pedophile entries for several towns in the state. Somebody should email Bill Bowen of silentlambs.org and attorney Kimberly Norris this information, and they may want to forward a copy to the state's Attorney General and law enforcement since it looks like a pattern is emerging. News writer Kim Ashton has reported on two of them.

DORECHESTER: Using attorney Stephen M. Born a 14-year-old Dorchester girl and her parents sued the Watchtower Society for covering up sexual abuse from Ronald, son of elder William Broadard, and discouraging her parents from reporting the abuse to police or prosecutors. William Broadard and other elders gave him only reproof while letting him continue as with his priveleges and title of "pioneer" (door-to-door minister) even though he had had committed pedophilia before. NORTHAMPTON: Jehovah?s Witness Joel C Bias (33), formerly of Athol, was tried in Hampshire Superior Court on two counts of indecently assaulting and battering a 14-year-old Amherst girl who said she did not consent to his touching her on the buttocks when he was by a 28-year-old man at church went to trial Thursday in Hampshire Superior Court. Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Linda Pisano told jurors that on two separate occasions in early 1998 the girl was attending services at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Amherst and left to use the rest room. Pisano said on returning to the main room, Bias was at the doorway, reached out, hugged her and put his hands on her buttocks, Pisano said. She froze then went to her seat both times. She said his actions were unwanted but defense attorney Thomas Estes, from the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Northampton said she did not tell Bias to remove his hands and ''had no reaction at all.'' He added 2 JWs have the job of standing next to the door at the hall; Bias had this job 'on different occasions.' The incidents were dealt with by the JWs and Bias told police he thought he had satisfied their discipline requirements. the girl was attending services at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Amherst and left to use the rest room.

On her return to the main room, Bias was standing at the doorway and reached out and hugged her, letting his hands rest on her buttocks, Pisano said. The girl froze at first, then backed away and returned to her seat both times, the prosecutor said.

So I guess there were no other brothers or sisters standing up in the back to see this, that enabled him to do this? Strange!

He would have to be pretty bold to hug a 14 year old in the hall, ....and grab her butt...... and not think anyone would see. I wonder why nobody saw this and said something? Strange

Gumby, it's because between the main reading-listening hall area and the door in many halls there is a corner to turn (thus putting him out of line of sight), and in other halls there is sometimes an inner door which blocks the view. The bathrooms are usually right by the outermost door on its left and right. Instead of "bold" he sounds like both a coward and a pervert. Again thing is although two door workers may be assigned sometimes only one is present (had to go use the restroom etc etc) or was even in attendance. So his lawyer is trying to hint that IF the girl told the truth then another man would have witnessed the fondling attack, and that is a bold-faced lie.

What I find interesting is this comment: "The incidents were dealt with by the Jehovah's Witnesses and Bias told police he thought he had satisfied their discipline requirements." So, it seems that the JWs did know about it before the police were even involved.

Another string says today the guy got off, maybe due to a technicality. Since he admitted he did fondle the girl's butt in a place of worship, he will still be mud in the eyes of any decent person. Watchtower will probably elevate him regardless. I wonder if the whole time he was permitted to keep preaching door to door, and if tomorrow he will be banging on another... door.
