CNN quotes Senator Harry Reid saying of Hillary Clinton, "I also think she's the woman to be the first president of the United states that's a female." --(Source: http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/24/politics/hillary-clinton-harry-reid-endorsement/index.html

Okay. Um... is there a message in those words?

I don't think there is a message ... unless he meant to say that Hillary Clinton has a chance to be the first female US president.

I think that's what going to happen ,

Once she gets the nomination and final support from the Democrat party, things will take off from there.

I cant wait for a Televised debate between Hillary and Trump, cant miss that !

I would put money down that she is going to be the next President of the US in November.

Trump will be a washed up looser thereafter and you wont hear from him again.

a Televised debate between Hillary and Trump - yeah, sounds great.

Trump will be a washed up looser thereafter and you wont hear from him again - that would be no bad thing.

It really depends on where you put the emphasis. The whole preamble was taking about her and her accomplishments "she ..." "she ..." "she..." so it makes more sense that "She [may be the woman to be the first female president]".

"She ..." was the subject of the whole thing.

I understood it as Clinton over any other female candidate, either in this election or of the past or of the future.

Uh, yeah, the message is exactly what the article says:

"If HRC wins the election, she will be the woman who is the first female POTUS."

I've restructured the sentence, for anyone who has difficulty with reading comprehension.

    EDIT

Years from now, if she wins, the Jeopardy question to the answer "Hilary Clinton", would be "Who was the woman that became the first female POTUS?"

Given contemporary notions of gender identification, it sounds like Reid was suggesting the USA may have had a "woman" as president just not one that was a female. I wondered which president he had in mind.

"I also think she's the woman to be the first president of the United states that's a female." --Harry Reid
