Hi all.....................just to let you know that I'm very excited about meeting with another friend from my dub days.
A couple of weeks ago I looked her up in the phone book and rang, out of the blue. She sounded very hesitant to talk to me, maybe just confused. I jumped right in and said I wasn't going to meetings anymore so I had plenty of time to catch up with long lost friends. She said she was relieved because she was worried I had rung to encourage her to return to meetings, that's what I did the last time I saw her..........(eeerrrrrrrggggggggg).
Then of course she asked 'why' I wasn't going to meetings anymore. I went straight into the whole story about my family's experience, the UN, the unscriptural procedures, etc..............she said she was shaking in her boots, not because she didn't believe me but because she felt sad for my family.
While talking to her she expressed that she felt a sense of relief in coming to know these things because now her suspitions about the borg were confirmed. For a long time she had been feeling guilty about not going to meetings, yet couldn't bring herself to going back.
We chatted for a long time but I had to end the conversation because I was at work and had to leave for home. I told her she could ring me any time, gave her my phone numbers and said I was looking forward to catching up with her. She assured me she would call me back because she wanted to know everything in detail, she wanted to see the video about sexual abuse and needed to ask me many things. A week went by and last Thursday she rang me at work. She said she would like me to have morning tea with me this Friday morning at her place but wants to come to my house next time because she wants to see our books, letters etc.
I guess this shows that we can be very useful and positive in helping people shed the WTS guilt and control. I hope that I can be a true friend to her and use all my info, knowledge and personal experiences to empower and strengthen her to stand up to them (dubs).
