    This saying was in the paper here this week and it's full of meaning, especially keeping religious tyranny in general and the WT specifically in mind:

    "One should respect public opinion insofar as is necessary to avoid starvation and to keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny, and is likely to interfere with happiness in all kinds of ways." Bertrand Russell, English mathematician-philosopher (1872-1970)

    Ironical that the WT used to quote from him sometimes too. Maybe a shorter way of saying it would be:

    "To be happy: earn a living and obey the law; but in all else, be your own lawmaker."
