I was asked to donate to my parents anniversary gift, now my dad died 10 years ago, but my brothers and sisters still get my mom something every year.
Me being the smart ass that I am sometimes, said, "isn't this a pagan custom, why are we celebrating such a thing, since Mom and Dad were married in a Catholic church, long before they became witnesses."
My brother says, "this is an arrangement by Jehovah." I said "No it's not, do I have to repeat myself, Mom and Dad were not witnesses when they got married, therefore Jehovah did not bless the marriage did he." he said I was knit picking.
If you think about it, I am surprised the Watchtower doesn't make people get married again after they become witnesses. Since most who were married before becoming witnesses, were married by a pastor, reverend, or JOP, who would not have Jehovah's blessing.
I only remember one occasion where a couple got married again after becoming JW's, and they said they did it because they did not feel the people that married them the first time had Jehovah's blessing. Anyone else hear of such an event.
any thoughts or comments ???
