Unless a JW can perspnally verify a given fact, it all comes down to a choice of who to believe: Jehovah or Satan?
It seems that many witnesses simply dont care about facts?

Remember the old books like then is finished? They would go into depth on what they believed. Bull shit? sure but it was in depth bull shit. Now they drink pablum and ask for more patting themselves on the back as if it was the new unification theory.

A question: If "facts" as basic as time, space, gravity, historical events, and international relations are open to question...what absolute facts does anyone have that can forever be unchallenged? For JWs or otherwise, it is merely an excuse for a temporary certainty. This, I opine.

The JW cult like all religions, depend only on collective beliefs.
Beliefs can happily flourish without any facts at all.
The 'truth' of a matter in a religion is validated, not by concrete evidence but instead by the number of people in a particular community who have been convinced to believe it.
So 'belief' is something to be shared in your culture group for the feel good factor and for forming a sense of group solidarity... and facts are for people who care about accurate perception like scientists and academics and many ex-JWs.

J.W's do not care about TRUTH, which is irony of the first order, with all the times they call their ( ever changing) belief system "the truth".
We can of course debate about the nature of truth and facts, but JW's are similar to " flat-Earthers" who also deny that the Earth goes around the Sun.
This is because their minds are controlled, controlled by people who have convinced them they are trustworthy.

It's scary how much it's changed. Independent study was the sign of a zealot when i was a kid. Now they've actually a sin as "causing divisions".

JWs are under heavy mind control. Anything that contradicts or puts their rock star popes in bad light cannot be trusted.
