Is the idea of separation of church and state as prevalent in the UK as it is in Canada and the US? I personally wouldn't think so since the Queen is the head of the Anglican Church, but perhaps someone from the UK can enlighten us North Americans.

Also... Don't you find that separation of church and state in Canada has become a bit ridiculous, even to the point of religions and religious not being allowed or permitted to voice their opinions on gay marriage or decriminilization of pot?

One of the Monarch's umpteen titles is "Defender of the Faith", or rather symbolic boss of the Anglican Church, often referred to as the Church of England.

Prince Charles has stated that when he ascends the throne he wishes the title to be changed to "Defender of Faiths". Whilst one is at first full of admiration at such selflessness, what he's really after is a freer reign to cavort with his ladyfriend Camilla as adultery by the head of the Church could be frowned on somewhat.

    Englishman.
