This year Canada hosts the 2nd "TIGER MEET OF THE AMERICAS" in Cold Lake Alberta. (Not too far from Lethbridge Simon!) It is a competition between U.S. and Canadian pilots. It originated in Europe 40 years ago, but the first North American one was held in 2001 in Colorado. CANADA WON.....so we get to host this one.

A fellow I work with, whom I have become friends with since leaving the borg. is heavy into fighter jets. He started a company some time ago, that reproduces decals from military planes for model airplane builders. The business is very succesful, and his wife and himself make more money doing this, then his regular job. He signed on a as sponser for the painting of the Canadian CF-18s that will be competing in September, and therefore got rights to reproduce the decals for sale, of which I'm sure he'll make a ton of money.

This week 2 of the squadron landed at our local airport, and he was invited down to meet the pilots, and have pictures taken. Here they are. Enjoy.

This is the training jet for the CAF. It is a 2 seater. Our regular jets are only 1 seaters, though the U.S. F-18s are all 2 seaters. I guess it takes 2 of them to fly their jets, but it only takes 1 Canuck to fly ours!!!

This is a closeup of the tail wing of the newly painted jet.

    On the Tarmac:

This is the "luggage" compartment doors where other pilots form other squadrons in the U.S. and Canada sign their names.

I borrowed this pic from the Abbotsford B.C. Airshow that was held in August. It shows the awesome paint striping from above the plane.

Hope you liked them......and GO CANADA GO !
