LEARNING how to HATE is a Jehovah's Witnesses' "Christian" duty!

    Note:

One out of every 100 Jehovah's Witnesses is tossed out and 2 out of every 3 are never reinstated. Over 70,000 tossed out each year!

Why? Is it because there is little love, forgiveness or tolerance among JW's? Perhaps there are too many elders and rank and file members like this fellow named Diotrephes.

    We read:

    3 John 9,10

"I wrote something to the congregation, but Diotrephes, who likes to have the first place among them, does not receive anything from us with respect. That is why, if I come, I will call to remembrance his works which he goes on doing, chattering about us with wicked words. Also, not being content with these things, neither does he himself receive the brothers with respect, and those who are wanting to receive them he tries to hinder and to throw out of the congregation."

Elders who practice "pure hate" really like to throw people out of the congregation and label them with wicked words. Where do these elders get such ideas and encouragement?

    Observe the following examples.

The October 1952 issue of Watchtower sets the stage for introducing a practice called:Disfellowshipping.
    How?
By encouraging readers to consider the specific instance of HATERS of God. The thrust of the paragraph is a call to action on the part of JW members in good standing to DO something.
A binary choice is presented: What you CAN and what you CANNOT do with so-called "haters of God".

    Read:

"Haters of God and his people are to be hated, but this does not mean that we will take any opportunity of bringing physical hurt to them in a spirit of malice or spite, for both malice and spite belong to the Devil, whereas pure hatred does not. We must hate in the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest. Surely any haters of God are not fit to live on his beautiful earth." (The Watchtower, 10/1 1952, p. 599)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let us UNPACK all the little modules forced together in this set-up.

JW's are being assured it is OKAY to HATE and that it advisable to do so.

A peculiar binary choice of "hate" is explained.

1.Hate that stems from malice and spite (attributed to the Devil). (So-called:BAD hate.)

2.PURE hate which is justifiable because it is directed toward DESERVING souls who themselves hate God! (So-called:GOOD hate.)

Now that you are advised to hate (the right way) all you need is to have it pointed out WHO DESERVES such "pure hate".

The answer comes roaring like a freight train in the next month's Watchtower!

"We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization, as was possible and was ordered in the nation of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai and in the land of Palestine. . . . Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship." (The Watchtower, 11/15 1952, p. 703)

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UNPACK all that step by step and watch how the bomb was constructed. Okay?

The first sentence is densely hitched together in an awkward assembly of assertions.

1."We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization,"

The GB wants you to consider how lucky EX-JW's are they can't be murdered legally by summary execution in today's world of secular law and courts.

Interestingly, the Governing Body seems to envy Muslim sharia law with its "honor killings"! However, they seek "cover" by saying it was the way it was in ancient Israel. Who can argue with that? Hmm?

    2. Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship."

    NOTE:

What phrase GRANTS PERMISSION to the READER? This one: "...we can take action against apostates..."

But, what is the "certain extent" which is consistent with both theocratic and secular law???

Like Diotrephes, they like to throw people out of the congregation!

Here it is: The JW doctrine of Disfellowshipping.

The previous article gave JW's permission to express "Pure Hate".

APOSTATES and linked as "God Haters". When you read the word APOSTATE you are compelled to realize it is just former members they are hating on.
    ______________________

NOTE: Creepy as it reads, over and over we find a drooling preoccupation with "KILL APOSTATES" even though they keep telling us it is "forbidden" to do so reluctantly!

Read this amazing statement which you would hardly associate with people who claim to be like Jesus Christ!
    ____________

"Men can spray a field with chemicals that kill weeds but spare crops; too bad they cannot spray cities with bombs that blow the bad to bits but leave the innocent intact." (The Watchtower, 7/15 1955, p. 436)

The beginning of Disfellowship policy really began in earnest in 1952 with the above hateful series of articles.

Alas, these modern day Diotrephes seem to be in every Kingdom Hall around the world since about 7,000 members are thrown out each year.

What do you suppose Jesus Christ would have to say about this policy and these eager Diotrephes following the GB's instructions?

    Here it is right here:

Matthew 5:44-45 "But, I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust"

I'll repeat the factoid from the top of this topic:

One out of every 100 Jehovah's Witnesses is tossed out and 2 out of every 3 are never reinstated. Over 70,000 tossed out each year!

THERE IS ALOT of HATE being taught to Jehovah's Witnesses and we can read these statistics and see how effective it is.

The hate that can be felt within the Congregations at times towards certain individuals, families and groups is palpable. Everyone joins in with the latest "linchin" whether it be some poor sod being disfellowshipped out of existence, or a lower income familiy with problems being driven away because the congregation closes social ranks on them, or a lonely confused teenager being singled out for gossip because they dyed their hair or have a worldly friend. Everyone joins in the official and unofficial hate campaigns because as long as it's someone else's family getting annihilated at least it's not them or theirs.

The GBs through the decades have created the evil petrie dishes where this kind of ambient abuse flourishes.

Then they take it a step further and try to pretend that shunning=love.

    Thanks for the read, Terry.

It surely is a religion of hate, and disfellowshipping is its weapon. Speaking truth is the offense, death by banishment the punishment.

Don't forget to "hate the person."

    July 15, 1961, p. 420

in order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked

I think this has been taken out of context, BTW.

Would the author of the 'hate' articles have been so outspoken if their name was attached.? Me thinks not. A- typical of those who spend their lives locked away in a 'monastery' .

    @ sparrowdown...

    "Hate or be hated", huh?

    SPARROWDOWN:

I have witnessed the hate you describe and have also experienced it personally in the congregation! In addition to the categories you mentioned, I was the single woman criticized and ostracized for working full-time to support myself.  So glad I'm out of there.

I agree with you that the GB created the evil petrie dish where all this abuse can flourish and where mindless fools can deceive themselves into thinking they are righteous.

The price that the religion pays for having hateful and hypocritical policies is that I would NEVER give money to the religion or anybody in it.  In my book, all this can't be forgiven!

The writers of these articles are quite comfortable with their moral superiority and summary powers

of judgment. It chills the blood how sanguine they've become over the years, holding the power of life and death, as they do, by pronouncing fate behind the door in the Kingdom Hall library.

Star Chamber philosophy is everywhere in this Organization.
